Healthy City Task Force - San Marcos, Texas

About

Committed to Community Health in San Marcos, Texas

Description

The Healthy City Task Force began as eight citizens, all of which were in one way or another committed to the health and wellness of San Marcos, appointed by the Mayor and City Council in November of 2004. The original goal of the task force was to promote physical activity, educate and encourage nutrition, and develop a community facility plan to share the use of facilities. One of the big issues that the task force had was the pink and brown milks in the cafeteria. Other issues were the lack of physical education for students as well as the overall nutritional habits of San Marcos. The task force is now comprised of people from numerous organizations as well as a few interested individuals:

The Healthy City Task Force is a great networking group whereby like minded companies, individuals and community members can get the word out about what they are doing with their groups.

We all support each other as much as possible supplying services, volunteers, and word of mouth to those in the group.

Anyone interested in being a member of the task force is encouraged to attend one of the meetings held at the Grant Harris Jr. Building (401 E. Hopkins) on the second Wednesday of the month at 3:00 pm.
