Had a wonderful time! Campground was close to the reservoir with breathtaking views. Camp hosts were super nice. Vault toilets and campsites were clean and well maintained!
We love camping at Heaton Bay. The location is gorgeous. You are tucked away in the trees yet so close to all the great offerings of Summit county, including the quaint town of Breckenridge. There are fishing spots and hiking and biking trails easily accessed from the camp sites. The views are amazing!
We absolutely loved this campground! The mountains with the reservoir made for stunning photos. It was quiet and the campsite was super nice. I loved that it came with massive bear lockers as well! The bathrooms were super nice, especially being for being vaulted, but the hosts kept up with them every day! And speaking of, the hosts were super sweet folks and made sure if we needed anything. A really great time was had and I hope to go back sometime!
Really enjoyed the location and amazing views. Camp hosts were very friends and bathrooms were very clean. Great access to biking trails. Wish they had dump station and all the generators running every night made it a bit loud. We enjoyed despite but would have giving 5 stars if they had a dump station and a bit quieter. Restrooms: Very clean! Dog-friendliness: Dogs on leash. Dog friendly!
Always been one of my favorite campgrounds pretty hard to get a spot here Make sure you make a reservation or have great luck. Restrooms: Well maintained and frequently and convenient throughout campground Dog-friendliness: Make sure you keep em on leash Picnic area: Basic but that's all you need
Beautiful campgrounds! Sites are situated nicely. Relaxing and scenic, great access to the outdoors! Very well run! Very clean very well maintained. Staff is knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly!
Solid 4 stars. We were in the E loop. An extra pit toilet on the back side of E near site 66 would be nice. It's a bit of a walk to the single or double pit toilet from site 66. Restrooms were clean. They need better access to the water for other sites that are not on the water. We had people walking through our site while trying to relax. Road noise...yes there is road noise from hwy70 but it becomes white noise after awhile. Overall great campground and I would definitely come back.
Great location for kayaks, paddle boards, fishing and biking at Lake Dillon. Kind neighbors and camp hosts.
We stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time! We were attending a show at Dillon Amphitheater and didn't want to pay $250 a night for a hotel, so we camped instead. I'm glad we brought our bikes because the bathrooms were a little far from our site so it was nice to just hop on the bike to get to the bathroom. There is also a nice, safe bike trail that goes straight to the Amphitheater which was very convenient so we didn't have to park and worry about driving, it's a little over 3 miles to the Amphitheater from the campground over Dillon Dam. The bathrooms are really clean and the camp hosts are really nice. The site itself was large with a big table and bear locker. The downside is you can hear the traffic from I-70 and it's a little far from the water if you want to paddle. There is a day use area just a short drive away and Frisco Marina is beautiful and would be a fun place to hang out for the day. Also keep in mind if you are bringing a boat they will not let you over the dam towning a boat so you have to take the Frisco exit if coming from Denver. Other that that it is a great campground and I will definitely be back for more shows and camping!
Pros: Beautiful background scenery, lake, mountains. Walk-to tent site D50 was huge. Massive flat packed gravel pad. D50 was very secluded. Practically by itself on this peninsula. Beware: 200+ ft of walk-to, however. Good tree coverage Extra large bear locker Hanging pole at each site Large metal picnic table Large fire pit Decent pit toilets Running water Right next to Frisco for restaurants, breweries, shopping, etc. Cons: Noise: next to I-70 gets a lot of road noise all day and night. Some campers were blasting their subwoofers through the whole campground from 6:30pm-9:30pm each night. This place hosts an assortment of extra large RVs, though the generators were not overwhelming, surprisingly. Overall this is a nice campground for the casual camper who enjoys a more comfortable camping experience closer to urban amenities. Not a great place for the wilderness enthusiast looking for an experience with back country nature.
