This amazing place is in a different league. You don’t feel like you’re in NY here. People are so nice. This place is massive. You can literally spend weeks here and not see everything. Do your research before coming here. There are numerous playgrounds here. One of the playground areas is adjacent to the water. There are also many paths through the woods. They even have cottages that can be rented out to sleep at. There is an entry fee during the season. This is an exceptional place. The playgrounds are acceptable and nice but there is nothing extraordinary about them.
This is a big picnic location in a natural environment. Great South Bay on the south side. Heckscher field parking 6 is huge too. This place has hundreds of seating, benches, tables, and a lot of BBQ pit. It is a place of adequate safety and security. It has men's and women's changing rooms by the bay. Playground: Playground for children and mature people available. Golf. Restrooms: Restroom and changing room available Picnic area: Well organized picnic area
Beautiful park that needs major improvements. Why cant NY dosomething? The roads need major work. It's like driving through a mine field. So many families come here and deserve better services.
Very big state park. The entrance fee is about $8. I went on a Saturday morning. Looks like you need to book before for an event. This is a very large park. Nice and clean road. There are many fields. Before going for an event, ask for which field. There are 6 fields . Clean restrooms and wide parking spaces are available. Playground: Good and large playgrounds are available Restrooms: Clean restroom available Picnic area: Great picnic spot
Parking is a huge hassle. Great summer concerts. Beautiful park grounds and pond. Geese plus droppings everywhere. Bathrooms pretty good, if the floors are dry and mud free. Playground: Lots of equipment to entertain the tykes. Restrooms: A little icky. Slimy floors. Dog-friendliness: Dogs all over the place. Sucks if you are not a dog person!
Beautiful park. At park for the NY State Summer Run Series. The ticks seem to be under control this year. There are much fewer bugs than previous visits to this park. We were pleasantly surprised! Go prepared anyway. It is a great spot to visit for their trails, beach, fishing, or barbecue. Playground: The playground looks very well kept. Not like the steel death traps of old. Everything looks new and modern. Great to see! Restrooms: Bathrooms are always disgusting after the runs. Especially the ladies room. Gross how filthy some women can be. Dog-friendliness: Yes, bring the pups! Very pet friendly park. Everyone seems to bring along their furry friends! Picnic area: There are lots of picnic areas to choose from. Even bbqs available to use. Just don't forget to bring the marshmallows for smores!
Went to see the beach and it was a bit smaller than I expected but the weather was very nice and I can imagine this place packed with people during summer time. We sat on a bench for a while listening to the ocean weave with birds songs. Just chilling there and relax. The google map was a bit confusing to me, and I was directed to a private office place in the park. But then I found my way to the beach. There were plenty of parking space and we also see cottage and camping area! Can’t wait for the summer time!
We're staying in the cottages for a nice little getaway without having to go too far from home. Beautiful beach views and peaceful surroundings. Dave at the food truck at field 8 is knowledgeable about the area and has great snacks! During off- peak, park seems a little understaffed.
I went there with my family just to chill out on a 4th of July, it's a big place with a bicycle roads, picnic areas, playground for kids and also near by the beach to have some fun in the water, it has bathrooms, clean water and plenty of parking space, nice sea views Picnic area: Plenty of trees to get some shade and rest well
Never been to a park that had one let alone 4 that I saw bike repair stations. Very neat. Lost of wild animala about too!
