"Henry Alexander Hunt (1866–1938), a U.S. educator and social reformer, was born in Hancock, Georgia. He graduated from Atlanta University in 1890. He later became the business manager of Biddle University in 1891–1903. His crowning achievements were achieved as principal of Fort Valley Industrial and High School, Fort Valley, Georgia where from 1904–38 he created a new campus, started several rural extension programs, institutes for teachers, and numerous farmers' conferences. In 1930 Dr. Hunt was awarded the coveted Spingarn Medal, an annual recognition for outstanding achievement by African Americans by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)."

and builder. He found a paucity
of physical assets, but he was not a
man easily discouraged.
