Delicious! Fresh made soups, sandwiches and desserts at the family owned restaurant. We had the homemade beef chili and the Roasted portobello salad with delicious fresh avocado. The cucumber water is excellent. This was the first time I have been here. My friend spoke highly of it and she was right. Very attentive service. Come early as this place fills up fast! Parking is limited.

You'll find them only open Tuesday Wednesday Thursday!!! 9 hours a WEEK!!!9 IF YOU'RE LUCKY! closed Saturday Sunday Monday fridays are hit or miss because of catering

Great chicken club sandwich. Zesty mellow homemade lemonade. Quick and friendly service. Clean tables. Free parking. What else could one ask from a lunch stop? Kosher potato chips you say? Yes, they've got that also!

Barb the owner greeted us the door, explained the menu and ordering process when we first arrived. Service was prompt. The restaurant was very comfortable to enjoy a well prepared, delectable meal. After eating lunch, my only disappointment lie in knowing we won't be able to enjoy Barb's cuisine until the next time we drive thru Iowa City on the I 80.

Today was the first time I ate here, my sister knew the place and we feel lucky it was open in spite of road work signs and blocks on Dubuque. The GF bread, toasted for the sandwiches, was delicious; best GF bread I've had to date; everything was so fresh, the pesto, spinach, tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese; everything was clean and scrumptious! The potato chips make big brand organic kettle chips seem overly processed! Our sandwiches were so tasty my sister and I got a third and split it! I haven't been impressed with a sandwich in a long time! Fantastic food, friendly, welcoming service. And, I am glad it's tucked away a bit away from central downtown.

One of my favorite places in Iowa City. Not only is the food amazing but I've had the immense pleasure of working with the owner a couple times. My team at work wanted to order lunch for an event we were having and even with short notice the owner made it work. She was so accommodating and helpful! I can't express how much I love this place!

Great food BUT we’ve tried FOUR times we live 1.5 hours away and every time it’s closed with a sign on the door for one reason or another, even though Google says it’s open. Consistency would be appreciated. Thank you.

I love!!! First time here the owner brought the food to me, she’s super sweet, and kind. I got the Pear and Brie press. It’s everything you want on a meatless sandwich. It’s savory with a hint of sweetness that doesn’t overpower anything else. Everything in this press is married. The chicken tortilla soup is bold, and packed with flavor. My least favorite soup until I had it here.

Yum, yum, & yum! Worth the detour! Everything was delicious and fresh. I love that this is small family-owned business that locally sources ingredients. I'm hungry to eat it again just writing the review. As a family of vegetarians we were in love with the tomato mozzarella and cheese melt. Also, get whatever the soup is because it is sure to be great. Don't forget to get a ranger cookie if they aren't sold out. Thanks for being our "goal" spot on a long multi-state drive.

I've been to HSK five times in the last month. They were only open twice. Both times, I got the cobb salad. Both times, I was blown away by how fresh and delicious it was. They're only open for a hot minute most days. And it's not uncommon for them to be closed because they got a sweet catering gig. Can't fault them for that. Somewhere, I saw that HSK was the top rated restaurant in Iowa City. I can believe it. Real people making real food with real care. Thanks, Barb and company. We'll be back. Often!
