Heritage Bicycles General Store

Description

COFFEE: We may be called "Heritage Bicycles," but we make incredible coffee also, if we do say so ourselves. Using rich, full-flavored award-winning Heritage coffee beans, roasted locally, we'll brew you a cup of whatever you want, however you want it. We're not an assembly-line coffee shop, and we take care and pride in every beverage we make. Whether you're the occasional decaf coffee drinker or the six-cups-before-noon coffee type, we're here to help.

BICYCLES: Bicycles are a lifestyle. There is a reason the timeless saying, "It's like riding a bike exists." It's because bicycling is part of our inner-core. Chicago-based Heritage Bicycles believes that a bike is not just a bike. We instead believe that a bicycle is an extension of you. That's why we build custom bicycles that make you feel brand new. We weld locally, we paint locally, and we assemble locally. That's still not good enough for us though. We take it one step further by using high-tensile American steel to create our sleek, hearty frames. Beauty and guts. The Chicago way. The local way.

BIKE REPAIR: We don't stop there though. We've hired arguably the finest bike mechanics in the city of Chicago. Our head mechanic, Ben Fietz, is a USA Cycling licensed race mechanic, responsible for the well-being of professional racers' rides at races such as the Tour of America's Dairyland.

"The environment and our community are important to us. There is an obvious reduction of carbon emissions when we choose to bike instead of drive, but we are further decreasing our carbon footprint by keeping our bike manufacturing here at home. Our eco-friendly bikes are built with American steel, welded and assembled locally. Chicago hasn't seen a production run of locally fabricated bike since the '70s, when Schwinn left. We're here changing that."

One of the highlights of my trip to Chicago. They combine two of my favorite things, bikes and coffee, in a vintage-inspired yet crisp + modern interior setting complete with plants and carefully-arranged products for sale. The balance between aesthetics and function inside the shop is super admirable; it’s one thing to look pretty, it’s another to provide quality service and product in that same setting. But Heritage pulls it off! My latte was incredible and they sell some awesome bike gear. I can’t speak for the bike services, but there were folks working on both sides of the shop. Next time I’m in town I’ll plan on chilling out with a book here. A really great atmosphere.
A bike shop and coffee shop combo, there is no better match. My experience here was lovely and the barista truly went above and beyond to offer help when I walked in with a flat! The coffee was delightful and exactly as I asked. 10/10 experience and will be coming back when I’m in town
My go-to neighborhood coffee shop - the best, feels like home! Only thing that would make this place better would be to bring back the strider sando!! Used to be my every day order — delicious and perfectly sized. Other food options are great too, but a little large for every day munching.Food: 4/5
Quite an interesting coffee shop. Never would I have thought to have both a coffee shop and bike shop together as one but here we are. Espresso was great with how much flavor it has and for the price at just over $3. Food looked wonderful as well. Great place to hang out and buy a bike as well.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: YesDelivery: No
Beautiful shop and wonderful menu. All the syrups are made in house, matcha is whisked by hand and is wonderfully made. Highly recommend for any coffee folk in the area. I got the shaken matcha lemonade which was delicious.
I have walked past this place many times over the years but they are always really busy. Finally I saw a chance to grab a coffee and sit down which I did! I will say from the moment I walked in.. the staff was warm & inviting. I only bought a drip coffee but they brewed it fresh & they even bought it to my table in a real cup! You don’t see that anymore and so it just made the experience that much better. I want to thank the staff for making my coffee treat more then I could have asked for. The attached bike store is cute and has everything from bikes to merch! I might come back and buy a shirt next time I’m in the hood. I give this place 5 Jerry the pigeon gives 5
Really cute store and cafe with a great atmosphere and a fantastic staff! The pastries and coffee are 10/10. The outside space is adorable. One of their staff members, Asher, was particularly nice and welcoming to me and totally brightened my day!Food: 5/5
Lovely café. Loved the 'heritage' bikes. Food and coffee we're both excellent - such a great place to chill and chat. Kid-friendliness: Fine for kids Parking: Loads of spaces, right outside
The barista asked if I wanted oat or macadamia milk. I’ve never had macadamia milk so I asked for their recommendation. The barista responded with “I don’t know you’re the one drinking it”.Service: 1/5
