Nice short hike. There is a trail that goes along the river up to the abandoned building and continues to loop around back to the restroom area note: follow the dirt trail to loop around. You’ll have to climb over and go under fallen trees made it fun . The “Hidden Falls” waterfall has its own short trail just north of the restroom towards the scenic overlook.
This is beautiful place. Time to time we come fishing here. Mississippi River has all kind of fish. Most of the time we have biting. Today was quite rainy and we didn't have a chance to stay longer to catch fish. But rain is needed much for the dry land.
The park could use a map to get to the "Hidden Falls," despite the name implying the falls are to be a secret. The bugs were in force. The trails are for hiking and are easy but not necessary handicapped accessible. Has easily accessible running water restrooms
This place really isn’t all that unless you have a really fun group of friends to go with. The trail associated with the park is terrible— over half of it has fallen trees everywhere and it doesn’t take you to the hidden falls. You can go under/over the fallen trees if you are stubborn/resilient/curious/able-bodied, but if that’s too much work STAY AWAY. It is not maintained at all. The falls are underwhelming and just a few steps from a nearby lot if you want to check it out. It’s free but not very worthy of time.
Pretty disappointed with the falls! We weren’t sure how to get there and we walked this sandy way with lots of knocked down trees to discover the way to see the falls was 2 minutes from the parking lots and a pretty easy walk. Nice neighborhood to go for a walk though
This place is beautiful I love coming down here great hiking and biking trails. Dog-friendliness: They have to be leashed Picnic area: Lots of picnic table sand grilling area.
I've visited this park many times and I proposed to my wife there, so it has a special place in my heart. My kids used to love playing in the stream and by the waterfall. It's not spectacular, but it's a cool place to walk around. Bugs can be bad, so keep bug spray handy in the summer.
This is a great place to launch a boat and catch walleyes! It's all catch and release. Lots of trailer parking. Get there early to secure a spot!
Beautiful and quiet. Bit of a walk to get down to river since still pretty flooded. Definitely will come back
A good place for skipping rocks, and a great place for skipping-rocks! Some of the ones I found even had interesting fossilized material. I didn’t get in the river myself, but it was very peaceful and cool, and lots of people enjoyed swimming in it while I was there. There are plenty of shaded forest trails good for a short hike, and the wide, asphalt path is good for running, as long as you don’t mind the sun. I encountered a wide variety of wildlife while hiking, including woodpeckers, chipmunks, gray squirrels, red-breasted robins, and even a handsome garter snake! As you walk, make sure not to squish the many interesting bugs going about their business on the forest floor. Despite the general abundance of critters, I encountered very few mosquitoes and flies, although I can only speak for my one visit in early July. Overall, an impressively natural park for being only 15 minutes by car from the airport! I did find a large, serrated kitchen knife in the shallows, but that seemed like a fluke.
