This is a quiet, beautiful woodland. Great trails to walk your dogs. Peaceful setting and a host who is on top of what's happening. My only warning is that I had to move my C Class RV because site 17 was way too unlevel for my rig. I was up five of those yellow blocks high and still not level. With the help of the host, I moved to site #1 which needed no leveling at all. Spent a lovely week at Hilltop!
I had FCFS spot #5 it was small, all spots were small in this loop. The other campers looked to be homeless staying out the 14 day limit. Creepy guy said my daughter was so pretty. I'm sure the other loops are much better since you can deserve them. I had a negative encounter at the lynx lake cafe. I've camped in MUCH better campgrounds and areas. Shout-out to the very nice and helpful camp host. Restrooms: Could use a sweep but overall good. Dog-friendliness: So many barking dogs. Made more noise then my toddlers.
Great campground outside Prescott. The host is AMAZING!!! Several sites require you to park up top and walk down. We tried B17 first but it was too difficult to level our 22’ camper. Andrew host to the rescue. He gave us a special spot ;. We stayed midweek. Hang tag for camping gets you access to Lynx Lake and the ruins. Crates of wood $10 Decent AT&T reception. Great bike and hiking trails right from the campground.
We loved this campground. First time camping here. We usually camp at Yavapai but it was closed until May 1st due to the epic snow this year. Our site had a pretty view and the campground was very clean. The sites are spaced out unlike its neighborhood lynx lake campground. We stayed in site #31 on loop C. The only reason why I give it four stars is honestly because of the camp host. Not the main host. A site across from us on Thursday a guy showed up in a spot that was blocked off. We assume he is going to be a second camp host for the summer. They brought him a golf cart. However we never see him. He ran his very LOUD generator 90% of the day that sounded like it needed serviced. We have a generator too but only ran it for about an hour for showers. I would stay in loop B if you can so you don’t hear it all day long and interrupt your peace and quiet. Disappointing the camp host was the loudest around.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The camp host was friendly and went around checking on things. I was in loop B, site 15. It was well isolated from other sites. All of the sites are fairly spread out. I like going to this area in April each year to kick off the escape from the Phoenix heat season.
I so wish to give this place 5 stars and I can’t for one reason. First the good. The sites are all well maintained. Unlike the more popular Lynx Lake they are not all on top of each other. The sites offer great views of the forest and the stars at night. The bathrooms are clean and there are a lot of them. There are 3 loops. The smallest loop A is first come first take. Overall this is a great place. So why the low stars? We were right across from the host spot in loop C. This guy ran the loudest generator I have ever heard for the whole day. So instead of a nice peaceful quiet you got a generator that sounded like it needed a tune up. I am not against them. But we use ours and shut it off as quick as possible. Not him. The only reason he stops is to add gas. Really really disappointing that a camp host would Be the loudest camper around.
I had an excellent experience throughout the summer camping up on hilltop! I met many good people up there on hilltop. Warren the host Is a really nice guy. I already have reservations for April 1st I hope to see Warren and his wife up there As the host.
This spot is Amazing. Loop A is first some first served. Loop B and C must be reserved on recreation.gov. The hosts are good people. Do not expect power or dump station. But there are water fill points everywhere. I very much enjoyed my time here.
We stayed this last weekend, on a double site campsite 33. It was plenty big enough for 2 large tents and 4 hammocks. We had 7 people and 3 dogs. It was quiet and peaceful and the trail to the lake was amazing. The people who run the campsite were the nicest people and drive by often to clean the restroom and see if you need firewood. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean for vaulted toilets. We will definitely camp here again.
We had space 24 and it was fantastic It is clean and we'll kept as well as bathrooms nearby. We brought tents and had a fabulous trip. It was fairly private and just a short hike down hill to Lynx Creek very beautiful. Loved the Eagles except when he was circling my little . The leash got shortened after that. It was a very peaceful relaxing memorable trip. Warren the groundskeeper was awesome!
