As I was scheduled for a fatty hernia the staff showed concern and professionalism throughout from start to finish. Doctors and staff made my stay comfortable considering the circumstances. The discomfort of the surgery was minimal. My send my gratitude.
I came in with my dad today for his procedure. We were there for a few hours...I just want to say Angela, I believe she's a Radiologist?? My dad came in uncomfortable, but Angela kept a smile on his face and showed concern and was passionate the whole time we were there.. Your whole team was great But Angela stood out.
After 55 years trying to get my benefits and finally receiving them in 2020 I find today it is still a fight with them. I had a seizure in the hospital today trying to walk from the commissary to the ER when I stopped a security guard to tell him I was in trouble. He sat me down in a chair and called for help. Nurse doctor came to help me and told me Emergency Room was best I agreed. The Broadview para medics came loaded me on the cart to drive me to the ER. They bring me in to get chastised by a nurse for she tells them THEY are on BYPASS. I hear this and go crazy and stand up to pull the IV out of my arm. They try to calm me down but the damage has already been done. The VA still resent me. VA who are you there for, I guess not me.
This review serves serves as an online petition to have dr kalmar ER Dr. Terminated from his post as an ER DR. at Hines V.A Never in my lifetime have I ever encountered a doctor so extremely unprofessional lacking of compassion empathy & remorse treating patients unhumanely , moreover Dr Kalmar lacks any redeemable qualities that any quality medical professional should have. The thought of any of my battle brothers and sisters having to deal with such a low quality man is unbearable. In fact DR. Kalmar thinks so highly of himself he made it a point to tell me repeatedly that "I'm on his time" And made it a point to threaten me with the Hines VA police several times. After threatening me with the Hines VA police several times I decided it was best for me too take my leave as this whole ordeal had already caused me to be late to pick up my minor child whom I have sole custody of at this time doctor Kalmar informed me that he was recording our conversation on his personal device which is the violation of HIPAA law as I never gave my consent to be recorded. In addition to the aforementioned as medical professional you're there to be a servant to the people to men and women that have served this country veterans that have signed a blank check payable up into their lives, to be degraded belittled and talk down to as if there is 2nd class citizen by someone who holds the title of "doctor" that is supposed to provide quality care is inconceivable. On September 23rd 2022 Dr. Agnew performed ortho hand surgery removal of plates screws and other hardware on my right hand due to the extensive nature of the surgery I was injected with nerve blockers in my neck which now has severe bruising and a golf ball size knot in my armpit I was also given anesthesia. Upon my discharge I was only given 5 norco 5 mg by Bianca A. Dichiaro & told to come back for follow up in 2 weeks over the weekend my pinky and ring finger swelled to the size of my thumb and turned purple which led me to my ER visit today. I put in a message over the my healthy vet system over the weekend and my message was not returned until Monday September 26, 2022 I was instructed by a representative from the Hines VA orthohand clinic to come to the Hines ER and request my surgeon Dr. Agnew to be paged as they would look at the swelling on my hand neck and armpit and give me much needed pain medication. After this whole ordeal no pain medication was given. Complaints will be filed with the patient advocate the Better Business Bureau as well as the State medical board. United We Stand we do have a voice brothers and sisters it's time over voice is heard.
Dr. Hessinger has helped me through some very dark and trying times in my life. Without his help I do not know where I'd be. He's an invaluable asset to the VA and his department. He genuinely cares and just doesn't listen but offers guidance and support throughout the whole process. I do not talk to anyone about my life or experiences. But Dr. Hessinger slowly got me away from that mentality I was stuck in. I still struggle at times but at least I know now there is a person who understands and is always there to help! He saved my life! Thanks Doc!
I was fortunate to be treated by The Hines staff who were both professional & personal. I was always kept abreast of the road ahead with my 2nd TKR. I also have my primary care doc. at Hines. Whatever problems I may have encountered I know in my heart that everyone is trying their best.
I’m very grateful for the service to veterans, but with an entire building filled with people smart enough to become doctors, you’d think they’d figure out something about the parking. The parking is atrocious, absolutly we’ll beyond sub par and that’s being generous. The valets are slow and unhelpful causing people who are very sick to park very far away from the building. I was late to more than my fair share of appointments due to the parking alone! I hate coming to this hospital for that reason when I do in fact need to go since the military cause me a lot of medical issues. Please Hines, fix your parking situation, systemic, top to bottom so we all can make our appointments
Tried calling the Billing Dept. for a 99 year old legally blind World War II Veteran and he was treated very unfairly. He cannot hear and friends were trying to help him on a 3 way call to get insurance info. Georgie and Renee were rude. You need to learn how to talk with respect to the elderly and not treat them like they are stupid. After all, we are free because of them! The VA put his name wrong in their system not us and therefore couldn't verify him. Ridiculous!!!!
PACT Act didn’t change anything. This place still hides diagnosis to make it hard to get your benefits. Went in because I been having symptoms from a now presumptive condition that falls under the new PACT act. Didn’t do any test or scheduled anything they released me with a discharge of cough only. Not the breathing issues or coughing up stuff for years or the chronic tonsillitis that I had to remove my tonsils because of a bacterial infection.
Really needed help after a bad line of unfortunate events, redering me homeless. The mental health ward was able to accept me in after contracting COVID for the 2nd time. Doctor McMilon, was able to immediately diagnose issues and treat quickly. Hands down the friendliest staff, making singing groups, bean bag games, and church services with an actual pastor plus keyboard playing. During stay, I had clean paper; clothes and towels for showering. Very updated follow up care with Video conferencing treatment & equipment. They even supplied me an IPAD for treatment care. Highly recommended
