Opening Pathways To Your Good Health
HHI is a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization, targeting all medically disadvantaged residents of Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia Counties, who are facing linguistic,cultural and socioeconomic barriers to health information and health care services.
To educate medically under-served families, in a linguistically correct and culturally sensitive manner, about chronic disease, disease management and prevention; and refer them to their commuity health care providers. Hispanic Health Initiativesbelieves that quality health care should be easily accessible and affordable to everyone regardless of their social status or income level.
Health Fairs: In collaboration with more than 50 community partners , HHI organizes an annual health fair proving on site chronic disease sceening and health literature. In May, the "Dia De La Mujer Latina" health fair focuses on women and their families. HHI volunteers participate in several other health fairs and community events throughout the year, conducting diabetes and blood pressure screening, as well as, distributing health literature.
