Great spot to get some history on the Garment District of Kansas City Missouri. Staff was very informative. Very small but worth the stop.
I went here over the 4th of July weekend with a friend of mine who works in fashion design and we had a good time! We both live in KC and wanted to view the "Fashioning Kansas City Icons" exhibit. It was very cool, although I personally would have liked to read more commentary on the design and construction of the pieces. Be warned: this museum is much smaller than you probably? expect. It's really only one floor capable of holding one small exhibit at a time. We went expecting to spend maybe an hour+ there and were done in about 20 minutes. I think the lady working the door said they might be renovating/rearranging things right now though so maybe the museum will be bigger and/or more comprehensive in the future? I would love to visit again if and when they have more pieces and information to view!
NOTE by appointment only Hard to find even with Google assistance.Visited onWeekday
Pretty neat museum that you can walk through in 20 minutes or so -- it's just one large room. Focused more on the garment industry in the area than the actual fashions, although there are some dress & suit examples on display.
Very interesting museum. They have original dresses, materials, and equipment from the garment industry days in Kansas City. There is a large map on the wall showing a number of the old city streets and districts.
Worked in the office building where the museum is located. For the museum clientel, steep steps to the single level display space. Open Saturday for everyone and by appointment Wednesday through Friday for group tours. Admission is free.
Very small museum but a very helpful guide and informational too. They change the fashion of the clothings per season. If you go on a week day, there are other people who works in the building too.
Love doing the fairy princess with my girls!
Such knowledgeable staff.
Very small Museum. Had great information on the Garment District in the area.
