Hiwassee College Equestrian Center is the home of the Equestrian Studies program at Hiwassee College, located in Madisonville, Tennessee.
In addition to offering an ideal educational environment for equestrian studies students, Hiwassee College Equestrian Center is a first-class boarding and training facility open to the public. The Center offers full care and pasture care board, riding instruction, and lessons to the public, as well as for Hiwassee College students.
Hiwassee College offers two degree tracks in the Equestrian Studies program. With smaller class sizes, students are guaranteed plenty of one-on-one time with the instructor. Hiwassee College students are welcome to bring their own horses with them to board at the Equestrian Center.
B.S. in Equine Science
Hiwassee College offers a 4-year degree in Equine Science. This degree program is for students who wish to pursue a career in veterinary medicine or other science-based career within the equine industry. Students following the Equine Science degree program take classes in general horsemanship, basic riding, basic training, stable management, horse evaluation, and other relevant courses.
B.A. in Equine Management and Training
Hiwassee College offers a 4-year degree in Equine Management and Training. This degree is for students who wish to pursue a career as a riding instructor, trainer, or barn manager. Students pursuing this degree will take courses in basic and advanced riding, basic and advanced training, teaching, stable management, equine law, and other relevant courses. Equine Management and Training students will have the opportunity to ride and train many different types of horses, as well as gain experience in teaching riding instruction.
