Shannon, grant, and the whole staff chefs included where the nicest wait staff I’ve ever met. The meal and experience was one of the best of my life. Worth every penny. I’ll be back every year!
Have wanted to dine here for a number of years and finally had the opportunity. It's a super cute space - converted home that has a ton of charm but no central air. I'm guessing that's not an issue most of the year, but on a 100 degree day, it was a serious problem. All of us were really uncomfortable the entire time with the possible exception of the time spent in the wine cellar which was cooler, but packed with the entire guest list for the evening. Super wine list if not a bit over priced. Pre dinner cocktails were excellent, although the "bar" was in a tiny room upstairs and there was a long wait for hand crafted cocktails. That is really a shame as I would've loved a second before dinner. Outstanding selection of spirits. Dinner was good but not out of this world. Plating was beautiful and service was very good. I was really disappointed with the beef wellington and wish I'd opted for the fish option. Beef was fine, but just a let down for expectations. A couple of issues, beyond the uncomfortable temperatures in the building, that really stood out... Intermission, we were asked to leave the tables so they could do a re-set. Sounded great but we returned the the same soiled linens just re-folded, and soiled butter dishes and knives. Not the most egregious thing, but it still seemed pretty tacky. Another thing that stood out is they don't enforce the dress code. They are very adamant on their website about what is and what isn't acceptable/permissable, but there were a number of guests dressed in clothing that was supposedly "unacceptable." Disappointing. The pricetag for dinner per person is pretty reasonable, but you're probably going to drop at LEAST $200 per person if you just have soft drinks. For an experience like that, I just feel a bit let down. I guarantee that I have higher expectations than most, so I would still recommend the place, but ultimately, it's no 5 star experience. It is memorable, however, and for a special occasion would be a good choice.
I will start by saying, we did enjoy ourselves and we will come back. The Hobbit is a dining experience. The food, the setting, the opportunity to meet and socialize with people you don’t know makes for an enjoyable evening. The Hobbit is expensive. You start with cocktails upstairs they are included on the check but you should tip your bartenders. When you have hors d'oeuvre in the wine cellar, you can purchase wine to go with dinner. My Brother in law bought a Red and I bought two bottles of Riesling I brought one home The food was delicious. I had the beef. My husband had the Chilean Seabass. The 4 stars overall is that I have food allergies that I disclosed multiple times and the my first beef plate came out with the vegetable that I am allergic to so I was done. They brought me another plate but my enthusiasm was dampened. Dessert was good but entrees were the star. I found it difficult to find a reservation but perseverance and patience paid off. We will return! Dietary restrictions: If you have food allergies of the anaphylactic nature be vigilant. Parking: There was plenty of parking
Came here for my friends 40th birthday party. The Hobbit has a set menu and the person hosting the event forgot to let them know in advance that I'm a vegetarian Thankfully the chef and staff was very accommodating and was able to whip up a wonderful meal on such short notice! The food, staff and atmosphere was amazing. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
This place was absolutely amazing. I'd first heard about it through Reddit and knew I had to go. My wife and I went for our anniversary and the reservations took way shorter than want we had anticipated and were able to get in within a couple weeks. When we arrived we saw the amazing iron gate and the beautiful glass "h" and were greeted warmly by a host letting us know they were expecting us. Cocktail hour was very fun and we were able to tour the ample wine cellar and return to our table where our delicious cocktails were waiting for us. The pre fixe menu started promptly and we were treated to a plate of hors d'oeuvres and a glass of champagne. The service of the hors d'oeuvres was nice as we were much more likely to try all of them as opposed to sticking to recognizable ones as we might have if they were self serve. The fish course was a wonderful scallop, and the fowl was an absolutely beautiful seared duck breast. After that there was an intermission where we got to walk around and have wine on the patio. We returned from intermission to a nice sorbet to cleanse our palates. The main course of roasted lamb was next and I have to say it was the best lamb I've ever had. The apple tart dessert was just as amazing as everything else and I had a wonderful hot chocolate to close it off. In honor of our anniversary they even gave us their "Hobbit love potion" to celebrate. All in all this was one of the best meals of our lives and for a very reasonable price. The decor was very quaint and homey and the service was impeccable. Everyone should go and have a nice night here. We can't wait to go again for a different menu.
This is an entire experi3nce from hors d'oeuvres to dinner to the wine pairing. The staff is amazing. We had the filet mignon and lamb, and it was amazing. Cannot wait to come back.Food: 5/5
The Hobbit is much more than a meal. It is a dining experience! My wife and I took our youngest son and his girlfriend to The Hobbit last evening as a very belated birthday present. We started the evening by going upstairs to the bar. We each at a different cocktail and they were really expertly made. My mojito was excellent. At seven, we went two floors down to The Wine Cellar for champagne and hors d'oeuvres. The servers were very generous with the champagne and I admit I had three glasses. The hors d'oeuvres were just great too! There was plenty for everyone! We brought a special bottle of wine so did not make a selection in The Wine Cellar. When we arrived at the restaurant I was impressed that they took our bottle of wine and took it to our table. It was waiting for us when we came up from The Wine Cellar. Corkage for the first bottle was a reasonable $25. Our meal started with scallops and couscous. That was followed by a petite osso buco. Both were excellent. a salad followed. It was great it was a fig stuffed with Gorgonzola with a pineapple dressing. After that was intermission, a chance to get up and stretch our legs. After if intermission we had a very refreshing sorbet followed by our main entree which was filet of beef wrapped in a pastry shell with mushrooms. Finally desert came which was a chocolate lava cake with fresh strawberries and cream. I could have eaten more than one but I was really pretty full. All throught our meal the various servers really worked well as a team. Dishes were cleared, silverware was replaced and our wine was kept topped off. Service was really excellent! It being my wife and I's anniversary we were treated to a special liquor after dessert. I'm not sure what it was but it was pretty darn tasty! Fortunately we had a designated driver so we got home Our evening spanned a little more than 4 hours and as I started this review saying it was more than a dinner it was a great dining experience!
Unfortunately, we had to tap out just a little early as we had been at the lounge since 6, but this was just splendid in every sense of the word. The hors d'oeuvres were terrific and so diverse. The wine and champagne were spectacular, as was chatting with the friendly sommelier, and the entrées were unbelievable. They were kind enough to pack our desserts to go, and we couldn't be more grateful to enjoy them the next day. Cannot wait to come back, what an experience!
A delicious spot well worth waiting for. Reservations can take months, but the old adage "good things come to those who wait" cannot be exemplified more in their carefully selected pre fixe menu. Each dish is presented beautifully and tastes wondrous. Expect to enjoy the entire four-hour dining experience.
Absolutely amazing. This was well worth the cost and the wait I made the reservation months ahead to make sure I could get in when a friend was visiting from out of town. The food was amazing, everyone cleaned every place, the wine cellar is an amazing experience and we really enjoyed the wine we choose. Only wish we had gotten a little more information about each course we were eating, but overall this was just a great experience and I'd love to have the opportunity to go again.
