The stay was comfortable and relaxing with plenty of fast food restaurants nearby! There are also a few gas stations and a Starbucks. Rooms were nice and clean, and the majority of the staff was very friendly and helpful. Be aware that one of the staff Johnny will harass you at breakfast time to make sure you paid. They need to work out a better system on that.
Good rooms and nice pool - employees of the front desk were lovely but the restaurant employees were rude. Bummed we didn't get adjoining rooms, but we were next door to each other and made it work. Elevator was slow and there was no continental breakfast. Went next door to waffle house and it was great. Not sure if I'd stay again.
Holiday Inn Montgomery Airport South checks the necessary boxes for an airport hotel, but it is badly in need of some renovations/refreshing and the hotel definitely cuts some corners where it can. For example, the $12 breakfast offering has a decent variety, but pretty clearly is just offering food bought at a Costco or similar store, they don't even bother to unpack the pastries from their original store packaging. Also, those are eggo waffles in the heated serving dish... So at least Eleven from Stranger Things would be happy . The rooms are old but clean and functional. My rooms A/C worked well and the shower was hot and drained well. Several light fixtures were broken and I think my mini fridge might not make it through the week. The gym is small but has a full set of dumbbells, which is better than some hotels. Only 1 bike, elliptical, and treadmill though. Similarly, there is a pool but it isn't exactly big or well furnished. The restaurant had good service and some good beers on tap. The bartender was also hard at work making blended drinks when I first walked in... not something you can always count on in a hotel bar. The food offerings are not healthy and you will struggle to find much if you have dietary restrictions veg, vegan, gluten free, etc but otherwise the food was good and at reasonable prices for a hotel restaurant. When I was there June 23 room service was still turned off because of COVID....but the restaurant was open with no restrictions ::shrug::. The reception staff were friendly and attentive. I liked the cool chandelier they have in the lobby : Overall, as airport hotels go, this Holiday Inn does what it needs to. Walkability: Totally not walkable like most of this area. If you hang a right out of the hotel your on a road servicing mostly warehouses, so on the weekends or at night you are probably maybe okay jogging that way. You can get 2 to 3 miles one way with running down side roads before you dead end or hit more dangerous roadways.
