We stopped in here to have lunch on a Saturday. It was a group of 7 of us in we did the family style. The food was good and the service was great. If you are in the area and looking for shrimp, Flounder, fried chicken, barbecue, and all of the trimmings then this will be a great place. The only negative thing I can say is that it seemed like the tables were really small. The staff is super friendly and they accommodated us as we celebrated a birthday. There is a drive thru window and large dining area. Plenty of parking. We didn't have to wait either. Good food with good people. Enjoy! I highly recommend.
Omg where do I start. First time eating from here and will be the last. The food was disgusting. And $16.00 for some nasty greasy soggy oysters. Avoid this place at all cost.
Try the BBQ pulled pork plate. It was so much food I could hardly eat it all. Very good. Good dining room. Very nice people. Go there you won't regret it.
Food is okay, but not a 5 star. Good fried chicken, coleslaw, and hush puppies, good staff, and good price.
Got there early so maybe the cook changes for the evening crowd. The food was greasy, under cooked and sloppy. Tables were sticky. That is always a bad sign of what’s to come. Had to send the shrimp back because it didn’t taste or look right. Second batch was almost as bad and the waitress was inattentive and a little rude. When my wife showed her the undercooked soggy shrimp she said “that’s how it’s supposed to look “ Food was expensive and couldn’t even eat most of it. You would think if you don’t eat the food they might offer a discount or even a response to our review. Perhaps they’re unable to read or right and couldn’t read instructions to cook shrimp. Our dogs seemed to enjoy it but were vomiting later. I read all of the great reviews but that was not our experience. Don’t think we’ll go back. We always leave at least a 20% tip or more. In this case the tip I offer is don’t eat there. The food wasn’t worth taking a picture of.
Was not told prices and value piece of flounder they had got different brand and prices went up.We told waitress at beginning of order we wanted 2 combination plates twice.When she brought flounder 2 small size. We asked waitress we got combination 1 piece fish and clam strips. She said yes that's the combination plate of 2.. When went to pay the lady at checkout it was over by 10.00 we pay. She insisted what waitress wrote was right. Then she talked very rude and I paid. When I got to car husband suggested I call manager.I was told he was not there. I called right back to lady at register they gave phone to owner. He was very rude. I told him we drove 2 hours to eat there.He said some folks want free .I replied I was going to pay .He argued then said with new prices and locals new they had changed fish sizes and price I would have overpaid by 4.00 dollars what did I want. I said buy yourself a piece of pie and I would not recommend their place anymore.
Plenty of tasty food at reasonable prices! We had the All You Can Eat baby flounder fillets. It came with 2 decent-sized portions of sides. One round was all we needed - good and full! The hushpuppies were some of the best we've had anywhere - very hot and crispy.
My husband and I ordered our meals; and the food was still hot when we got home. Much to our displeasure, our meals were mediocre. The chicken livers and fried chicken were good; however the side items were not so good. The green beans were not seasoned well our dog loved them though and the baked potato was hard. The tea tasted like it was made two weeks ago or with dirty water or the container just needs to be cleaned. We tried to order corn, peas, and banana pudding with our meals, which were listed on the menu, but we were told they do not have those items.
Hi This was our very first time eating at Holt Lake. My husband and I both ordered seafood. I had the combination platter, the scallops were excellent, the shrimp were over done, clam strips and baby flounder were good. My husband ordered the all you can eat trout, the taste was good and it was hot. I will say the seafood could use a nice batter that has season to it and actually stays on it. Our waitress was very nice. I wish I knew her name, so I could give her credit. She did have a big party come in after we received our food, so she relied on one of the other waitresses to watch over her tables. Which was fine, but her stand in was slow and not always around when you needed more sweet tea. Which is a very big pet peeve of my husband's. But it was really good, the service was good over all, the prices were greatur plate is full. We will go back.
Today an order was placed for a medical office staff lunch. There were numerous orders wrong or didn't have what was ordered at all. When I called the location to question the items, a nice lady and I went thru the orders so the owner could understand what was wrong as he kept saying in the background "I packed this myself". The entire call he was in the background adding his two cents. After reviewing the orders and having a new list of missing items 2 drinks that were not paid for, I asked if it could be delivered due to a drug rep picking the original order up for us? The nice lady said "I know that he isn't going to deliver it." To which I explained that an order of this size and this amount of money he should do what he needs to do in order to get it correct. He then stated from the background that "if they order again it needs to be placed by 11am." Well I am sorry sir... in a medical office we don't have the ability to plan around your AFTER lunch rush, but do not fret because we will NEVER spend another dollar at your location. We will continue down Hwy 301 and order from Holt Lake Gas & Grill! I have heard stories about how poorly some employees are treated at this business and now I have heard it first hand. Mr. Barefoot is rude, speaks condescending to his staff "well that wasn't in there because he couldn't read it! and has no desire to correct orders when they are incorrect.... as he offered a credit rather than the food and drinks that was missing. If I could leave less than one star I WOULD!
