STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!! One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had! We were on our way home from vacationing in North Carolina where we had stayed at another Homewood Suites. After having such a positive experience at the other hotel we decided to extend our vacation and stop over in the Virginia Beach area and booked another Homewood Suites for 2 nights. Big, Big, mistake! This hotel was filthy, really beat up, and full of security concerns. First off, after we checked in and parked the car on the side, there was a bunch of shady characters walking around the lot. A side exterior door was propped open with a rock because the card reader was broken. Notified a maintenance mad and he said he would get to it. That door was propped open all night. Next, the room we checked in to was filthy and beat up bad. Stains on the carpet, on the couches, chairs, beds, everywhere. The carpet was totally worn out and coming apart. The sofa bed stunk and was broken, our beds were made but looked like someone had laid on them after they were made, there were also crumbs on the floor between the beds. Notified the front desk manager, who was very nice, changed our rooms. The next room was appeared to be occupied!! Walked in and thank god the guests were not in the room, but the beds were unmade, food and dirty dishes in the sink, personal belongings everywhere! Changed rooms again, the 3rd room was ok, clean enough where we could tough it out for a night, but it was also weathered and beaten. Had to request several times bedding for the sofa bed and a shower curtain. Next checked out the pool, it was absolutely atrocious! The pool towels supplied were all stained and smelled bad. Decided to call it a night, notified the front desk manager we were only staying one night instead of two. Once we laid down, the pillows in the room had a foul smell to them. Forgot to mention the awful overwhelming odor in the elevator which the maintenance man kept blasting Lysol spray in it making it unbearable to take the elevator. Another little tidbit, right before checking out I was curious to see if our room keys still worked on our original room, and yup it did and still worked on the second room too. Upon check out I spoke to the hotel manager and reported to her all the concerns I had, including that the side exterior door was still propped open and our key cards working on multiple rooms. The hotel manager was very nice and without hesitation refunded me entirely. The only positive I can say about this hotel is all the staff were very nice and polite. Please stay away from this place at all costs!!!
I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at this hotel that left much to be desired. From the moment I entered the room, it became evident that the management had neglected basic cleanliness and maintenance. I encountered a myriad of issues that made my stay incredibly uncomfortable. First and foremost, the presence of cockroaches and spiders in the room was alarming and downright unacceptable. I expected a clean and pest-free environment, but instead, I found myself constantly on edge, fearing these unwelcome creatures. The lack of attention to pest control raises serious concerns about the overall hygiene standards of the establishment. Moreover, the room itself was far from clean. Stains were visible on the bed, couch, and floor, giving the impression that the room hadn't been properly cleaned in quite some time. It was deeply unsettling to find stains that appeared to have been overlooked by housekeeping. It's essential for a hotel to maintain a high level of cleanliness to ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay for its guests. To add to my disappointment, the bed was not made properly, and there were crumbs scattered across the sheets. It was evident that the linens had not been changed or adequately cleaned before my arrival. This lack of attention to detail is simply unacceptable in the hospitality industry and undermines the basic expectations of any guest. To make matters worse, the sink water was discolored and emitted a foul odor. Brown water flowing from the tap is not only unappealing but also raises concerns about the overall safety and hygiene of the hotel's water supply. Such conditions can pose health risks to guests, and it is the responsibility of the hotel management to address such issues promptly and effectively. Regrettably, when I reported these concerns to the front desk, their response was shockingly indifferent. They did not seem surprised or concerned about the issues raised and merely shrugged it off, claiming there was nothing they could do. This dismissive attitude towards guest complaints is wholly unacceptable and does not reflect a commitment to customer satisfaction or a willingness to resolve issues promptly. Overall, my stay at this hotel was a significant disappointment. The presence of cockroaches and spiders, the numerous stains on the bed, couch, and floor, the uncleaned crumbs on the bed, and the brown water from the sink all contributed to an extremely unpleasant experience. Furthermore, the lack of concern and ineffective response from the front desk staff only compounded my dissatisfaction. I strongly advise potential guests to consider alternative accommodations until these serious issues are adequately addressed by the hotel management.
This hotel has been very poorly maintained. Issues with the first room we checked into: the carpet was wet from an animal or another liquid?, filthy and tattered furniture. Due to the wet carpet, we requested a different room. Second room: we were given a key to an occupied room awkward and major security concern. Third room: slightly less disgusting maybe—the furniture was still dirty, kitchen floor was sticky, missing adequate kitchen items, no extra linens for sofa bed. Brown stains on linen gross!. Dirty tub even though there was a strong bleach smell upon entrance. Missing handle in bathroom. Handles for sink were missing the decorative hardware—what was there is the part that is supposed to be covered by the actual handles. Stained curtains. Worn out cushions for chairs and couch. The women’s lobby bathroom was falling apart. The breakfast was very average. We have had better at other Homewood Suites. The person running the breakfast struggled to keep items stocked. It did not seem busy, but either way, send someone to help her if needed. Children could not touch any food or serving item—we travel a lot, and my kids have always been able to get their own breakfast. No coffee or hot water was available after breakfast. I could smell weed in the hallway—gross! Front desk was friendly, on the upside. There seemed to family members/friends of employees hanging out on hotel premises for extended time—not very professional. I used to work for a major hotel chain, and that would have never been tolerated. All in all, I can’t believe a major hotel chain would let a property go so neglected. I would not recommend this hotel.
I love booking my stay here whenever I am in town. My room was nice air conditioner perfect. Only thing is they really need to keep the pool area clean. Pool noodles everywhere, dirty towels on floor, and none to be found. Marques front desk was able to locate a few after 30 min wait. Reese is wonderful. He is VERY nice and helpful. Thank you for helping me with my luggage, those carts need to be replaced. Reese always goes out of his way to be curteous to guests and you can see he works hard. Rooms: Lots of space with a kitchen Walkability: Cant really walk anywere Food & drinks: They have a bar on certain days.
We stayed here the last week, due to housing damages. While the room could have been cleaner, it was alright. Could also use a visit from the maintenance staff, some if the Baseboards were loose and the light was loose. But it was clean enough. The staff was the best part. The morning breakfast people were on top of it. Any time a crumb dripped it was cleaned up almost instantly. They were so friendly.
Excellent staff. I literally felt like I was being taken care of by my mother and father! The staff tending to breakfast was amazing also. They kept everything nice and clean. They had everyone talking and laughing. Just wonderful.Rooms: 5/5
This might be the worse hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The common lounge area was disgusting-dirty tables and stuff all over the floor. The room was unsatisfactory and the customer service and hospitality were basically nonexistent. We called the front desk multiple times and no one answered. We asked for new towels and additional pillows and only received them after asking multiple times after 2 nights. We asked for an additional roll of toilet paper and were told we couldn’t get any. So we had to leave our room on the 6th floor and to go to the lobby bathrooms and pray they were 1 clean and 2 stocked with necessary supplies. The lobby men’s room either didn’t have a functioning paper towel dispenser or it was empty for quite a long time. Every employee we interacted with felt like they didn’t want to be there and did nothing to help. I will never stay here again. Rooms: The room was pretty bad. The sheets didn’t fit the bed and were stained. We asked multiple times for additional pillows and towels, and received them 2 days after our request. We asked for our room to be serviced after 2 nights and were told they couldn’t do it. Safety: Not in a nice area. Felt like a free for all. Food & drinks: The included breakfast was terrible and the lounge room where it was served was not clean. We had to ask multiple times for Lysol wipes to clean the tables, which were covered in dirt and sticky grime.
I have no clue what some of these horrible reviews are talking about, because this is one of the best hotels I've stayed at in the Hampton Roads area. I only stayed for one night, but the rooms were big, clean, and modern with comfy beds. It's on a quiet side-street so you don't have to listen to noisy highway traffic all night. Staff was very friendly, fast check-in/check-out, and the breakfast was decent. If the price is right, I'll stay there again. Rooms: Rooms were big, clean, and modern with a small kitchen, a sofa, a work-station, and a big-screen TV. Loved those comfy Hilton beds!
Rooms have kitchenettes, but they're poorly supplied with cooking stuff I had 2 spoons, 1 fork, and the handle of a knife. The fridge was in rough shape - freezer okay, but fridge wouldn't go below about 50. Stairwells only open to the outside on the first floor, so you kinda have to take the elevator, which is okay but can involve a lot of waiting at certain times. Staff is really nice, Rooms smell okay, convenient to highway etc. In town, but in a pleasant area with a lot of trees. Popular with people in town for longer work projects.
I'm typically happy with the service at Hiltons but not for the latest visit in August 2023. The hotel inside and outside is not properly maintained, and the HOT WATER WAS OUT on the first day! We should of received a discount! Very unsatisfactory. They can do better.Rooms: 2/5
