As a graduate student, Medicaid is a Great Plan. Truly. But the care provided at Hopewell in Athens, OH is subpar. It's near impossible to schedule apointments for mental health and for medications. I've tried to see a doctor since early 2023; Hopewell has called twice the day of my apointment to cancel. Rescheduling takes many more months, and when someone is in crisis or in need of medication, sometimes we don't have six months to wait.
I called today to make an appointment with my primary care doctor. I make the call and office staff picks up and I can't understand what they said and instead of repeating it louder or more clearly they say it at the exact same volume and the exact same way and when I can't understand them again hang up on me. I guess I have to find a new primary care doctor.
I have been going here for well over 7 years. I see a psychiatrist and counselor. I've never had any bad experiences with anyone. If anything, I'd say my psychiatrist is one of the few doctors I've had since being diagnosed who actually listens and works with me. That said, everyone on both ends have good days and bad days. Corporate healthcare is never without some issues. But overall, my counselor and doc have always been supportive if you are work with them respectfully. Mental health is not easy to treat, and I know from experience that it can be frustrating at times. Finding the right counselor and doc is essential.
I genuinely have not had an issue getting the care I needed. When I was not working well with a counselor, I was given a different one that fit my needs better. I am so happy with my counselor and recommend counseling at this facility to everyone! I was also able to get the testing needed to diagnose specific mental illnesses and was given proper medication, while working with medications I needed for other medical issues. All of the receptionists have been kind and always helpful, though sometimes they're obviously stressed. I have never had them take their stress out on me or seen them take that stress out on others. Actually, they usually apologize when they're in a bad mood! Overall, I feel like I'm being taken care of and genuinely cared about.
Terrible schedulers, constantly late providers, and apathy when confronted with complaints. The entire attitude seems to be "if you don't like it, go elsewhere." So I will.
Not sure if I can actually mention their names but my family Dr. And Psychiatrist ate very nice and try the best to help me
These are inherently the worst people in entire healthcare industry. My wife has been doing rounds at their clinic for incorrect charges on annual health checkup to routine health checkup. They always find some or the other reason to decline talking with you. Since last 8 months we have been going through this mental harassment. If someone can find a way to hold them accountable please let me know.
I've only experienced great care with my doctor and supporting staff as well. Surprised of other reviews. 9 months later I felt the need to update this. I saw one comment saying "the 5 star reviews are made only by employees or people being bribed." I can't attest to others, but based off of my experience with the mental health side, Dr. Smith has literally single handedly helped me way more than any other doctor I've had. I stand by my 5 star review.
My Psychiatrist at Hopewell Health Center worked very hard to get me the medication I needed and is the best doctor I have. My therapist there is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and treats my depression/anxiety quite carefully. My C.N.P. is very caring and goes far beyond expectations. My nutritionist is wonderful. My caseworker is excellent. I would also like to give kudos to the transportation department and the drivers, as they are friendly and fun to work with. Hopewell is a great organization and I don't know what I would do without them.
The staff that work crisis are extremely sick and manipulate things callers say. This happened on Saturday May 7th 2022 morning at 5:10am . The original staff I spoke to hung up on me. When I called back another worker started talking wierdlty about my autistic 2 year old son and made false claims of calling CPS on me cus I said something mean to her
