I have been t hotheads several times and have had good experiences. Today, I showed the stylist what I was wanting and was told we would need to lighten my hair to achieve the look wanted, which was fine. It took the stylist nearly and hour and a half to get the foils in my hair. My hair is in a pixie cut for reference. Finally we got to the color process and she combed my hair so much that my scalp became pretty tender. During this, I was lying down with my head in the sink for what HOUR. I became overstimulated and frustrated but tried to keep hope. Eventually she dried my hair and the color was not even close to what I was wanting. It was a super bright red when I had asked for a copper color that was slightly brown/rusty. She told me I could leave and I told her she needed to make sure she cut my hair. She did barely any shaping or cutting, user NO product in my hair and I had to REQUEST her to style my hair. The entire process took 3 hours and I left feeling so upset and completely defeated. I paid $115 for this I won’t be going back and now I’m fixing my hair myself. 11/5/22: update- I was offered a partial refund or redo. I appreciate the owners reaching out.
I have trichotillamania. A hair pulling disorder I have struggled with since I was a toddler. I have been wearing wigs and been pull free for almost a year. I have some growth now and decided to make a change. Today was the first time I’ve left my house without my wig in three years to go to an extensions consultation at Hot Heads. I made a call several days beforehand explaining my unique situation entirely. When I sat down with my stylist, the first thing she said was, so what happened, bad haircut or what?” In front of the whole salon. I was mortified. Especially since I had called privately before hand and was already feeling vulnerable without my wig. I explained again my situation. She proceeded to feel my hair and tell me that she had a client years ago with my condition and she just “pulled them out anyway”, completely insulting the fact that I had worked so hard for this long not to pull. She offered me a haircut to shape what I had which I agreed to, not knowing what else to do. She left to cut someone else’s hair quickly while I sat and quietly cried in the salon chair. After several minutes, I decided to leave feeling embarrassed and misunderstood. If you are struggling with a BFRB that is hair related please seek another salon. And Hot Heads, please use me an example as what not to do when handling a situation that requires a little bit more respect and compassion.

In my opinion, hit or miss. Have had some decent experiences and others that left me regretting the appointment I was looking forward to for months. I have had purple color under my black hair and came for a root touch up on both colors. Currently I have pink roots on my purple hair and some of my black hair also has pink roots. Some of my hair got bleach spots on it so there’s pieces of copper in my hair. I also asked for curtain bang type face framing layers. The face framing layers are okay and seemed fine until I noticed a small piece of my hair was cut very short and blunt. So in a sad attempt to make it look decent I had to go back and get bangs. Very uneven, choppy bangs that I didn’t want to begin with. Overall, I’m not thrilled and with my past experiences I really expected better. Still waiting on a refund, because although I appreciate the time that was put into my hair, it was not worth $130.
My daughter and I just recently starting going to Amber this summer and she’s amazing!! She friendly and great at high/low lights and styling. After each visit, my hair is even better than expected!! We highly recommend Amber!Service: Hair coloring
Best place to get a haircut, get your hair styled, or eyebrows done in Muncie! The people at Hot Heads rock! Steven and Amber were so nice over the phone and in person! Steven did an amazing job cutting my hair and was so friendly! I was very comfortable, confident, and happy with the results! Thank you lots Steven, till next time :
came in for a consultation and got asked “is that all your hair?” by a white woman….i am black btw. i didn’t even have an appointment yet, this was a consultation. insane and unprofessional. WAS NOT A CONSULTATION FOR EXTENSIONS. there’s no reason the response i get was to say “we have all races that wear extensions” it was for HAIRCOLOR. you shouldn’t ask someone if that’s “all their hair” when you are consulting for highlights, why would i come in with fake hair if i wanted hair color?? terrible response, terrible service.Service: Hair coloring
I wanted specific colors in my hair. The color specialist said she could do it but she didn't think my hair would turn blonde so she said add some carmel's to it. Well after she went and had a smoke break. No personality, when she finished and finally let me see my hair it was nothing that I asked for. Few highlights one side looks like it was crimped like thick strand. I bought 2 products to help my hair. I had to pay 200 for this. This one as just my experience other stylist look like they were doing a good job.
Absolutely worst place to go to get your hair done. The lady in charge was disrespectful and had an awful attitude while speaking to me and her other clients. I actually got second hand embarrassment from her. When you're in a professional setting, it's assumed you're supposed to have a professional demeanor. Gossiping with other clients about other customers that are in the room is so distasteful, especially when your business is inside a university. Your service is supposed to be tailored to students. Clearly the hairstylist had no common sense. Awful experiences trickle hard and fast to other potential clients when most of your clients are students. Ball State needs to reconsider having this business inside their building. It's embarrassing.
I gave very specific directions for bangs, and received the worst cut of my life. My worst haircut nightmare came true- bangs too short to do anything with. They are not only too short, but also completely uneven. I asked for my bangs to fall below my eyebrows and taper longer on the sides. I even showed a picture of myself with bangs and requested the look! The left side turned out fine, but the middle and right side is way above my eyebrows and completely uneven. I will never return to Hot Heads. I wasted $40 and will be trying to grow these back to where they should be for weeks.
