Houston Police Dept. - Clear Lake Substation

On this day of April 4th, 2019 at approximately 2:58 AM me and the mother of my child went to go get gas at the Food Mart on Almeda Genoa right by the Shell Gas Station near the railroad tracks. The overnight Clerk Rafik, watched me for 15 minutes before assisting me and then proceeded to swipe my card twice and then refused to give me my gas saying I had no funds when I checked prior to my card being swiped and I had $17.38 in the bank and it was only a $12.50 transaction. Knowing that there was no holds at the direct store terminal, I silently mulled over the false information being handed to me and started calming down as Brandi my wife exited the vehicle and said "Just call the police or you're not going to see your money." We waited a bit, 35 minutes passed by but on a second call, a seasoned young and intelligent officer strolled through hands on hips and by the look he gave us, we smiled because he already knew what was going on. Coincidentally, as if he saw the cop or had a radio because two minutes prior to the young officer's arrival he released the funds and the pump was no longer pending a transaction, and we got a notification saying the funds were deposited back in our account. The officer then proceeded to help by directing us in the last 11 miles we had to a gas station where he normally gets his coffee. I thanked him for his service and we went on our way. We left a review for the simple reason to compliment the way this situation was handled by this department and to warn other weary nerdy travelers such as myself and my wife of scams like this on the road. Wait times to have an officer address a suitation are crazy long. I know that they stay busy but if you need them don’t expect it to be quick. Know that it could take multiple hours and they might not show. I have had both happen and I have only called twice in my life.

They really make you feel like someone is going to respond. I don't know who it is. But it's not the police. I called them. An hour or so went by and still nothing. It's not my job to deal with the issue I called them for I pay the city taxes like everyone else so this is just solidifying that there's not much we can count on now-a-days. Cops are no longer cops. Only there out of obligation and a check.

Wouldn't answer the phone. Just kept ringing, called several times. Tax dollars hard at work here, must be nice.

I called in to report a drunk driver, the lady pretended to get information and hung up on me. Absolutely ridiculous.
