All the branches I've visited so far are terrific. One of the best library systems in the country. No overdue fees for most items and a very customer friendly approach overall. Staff is excellent.
I usually take my kids and my neighbor's kid with me. They've enjoyed several free snacks and scavenger hunts there. And best of all, the HCL book selection is fantastic for the whole family.
Lovely library, the librarians are always so kind and helpful. The children events have been great fun for my toddler!
I come here for the activities they have for the children. The staff is so delightful & it shows they truly love what they do. They are always helpful in regards to the resources the library have available for the children.
Wonderful library! Located in Downtown Columbia, it hosts many events for little ones to adults. It does not cost anything to come in for events unless specified, to read books, or use the computers. The entire staff are a joy to be around. I love taking my toddler here for the classes. Note: It can get busy here so make sure to come early for classes or if you need a table to do work. There are bathrooms, elevators and vending machines at this location.
Being able to check out artwork for a month that you can hang on your wall is amazing. What a cool idea!
The HCLS is top tier! I frequent the LPP location and find the librarians extremely knowledgeable and very helpful assisting in children’s literature selections. My requests have ranged from picture books for pure entertainment to finding books to demonstrate and supplement reading/writing strategies in primary grades. I am happy to report, these librarians have never let me down! A bonus to this library system is the introduction of Equity Resource Centers. These centers are located throughout the library children’s literature , young adult, and adult sections and highlight literature that strengthens one’s understanding of the world and the world around them by introducing readers to some truly great authors, illustrations, and prose. I have been very pleased with the audiobook selections and the infrastructure to obtain books from other branches. This gem is such an asset to our community!
Really AWESOME library. Quiet, clean, well-stocked, professional staff, meeting rooms available, WiFi is fast.
Very loud library, like a tuition centre for some tutors!! Library’s noise level should be respected by all and the authorities should participate in it rather than just ignoring!! Tuitions classes should not be allowed. They should be asked to reserve a room. There is One male tutor who comes in the evenings. He is very loud and disruptive. It’s sad the employees don’t even stop him from talking loudly with his student.
First time at a library in a long time, let alone this location. Love the interior layout and the customer service. You can always tell a quality library not by how many books it has, but by it's layout and use of space.
