My experience at Howard County Smiles has always been a great one. Dr. Becker and his staff were extremely helpful. They were knowledgeable, kind, and ensured I was very comfortable throughout my visit. The state-of-the-art office is a nice bonus! Would highly recommend.
Top notch office and they treat you well. As with all dentists the cleaning experience will vary by hygienist. This last visit was the most painful cleaning I've had in years, the gentle touch was painfully missing but the results were excellent regardless. I'll use a different hygienist next time. I highly recommend this practice.
First appointment was an "orientation" and I never got a cleaning, only x rays. Second appointment was half a cleaning they did the scaling and told me I needed to come back in a week to let my gums heal. Every dentist I've ever been to does x rays, scaling, and polish in one visit. The office is really nice but it's because they turn one visit into 3.
Dr. Ray and his team are so professional! I’ve been going here for 20 years…every time I go, I’m left more impressed than I was the last time. The staff is friendly, considerate, and knowledgeable. I genuinely enjoy my experience every time I go. Thank you Dr. Becker!
This review is only about my experience with Dr. Becker and his treatment plan of my TMJ as I have not used any of the other services here. The main reason behind my low rating is that Dr. Becker simply did not resolve my TMJ issue. I went through his diagnostic process of getting a d-pass, total biopak testing, and imaging. Eventually I was referred to Dr. Zebovitz since my case was considered surgical. I went back to Dr. Becker after going through the recommended surgery with Dr. Zebovitz to express my concern with the lack of improvement in my jaw, and did not receive any helpful follow up. If you’ve been having chronic TMJ problems, I suggest you go to a university hospital instead, as they have more doctors to look over your case. Even when I asked for a referral to see another oral surgeon, I could not get a referral and had to find another dentist to write me one. Edit: I spent a year and $70k out of pocket because Dr. Zebovitz is considered the best according to you. After doing my own research, there are tons more oral surgeons with expertise in TMJ/TMD that take insurance. Why did you not tell me about other options? Are you ignorant of other oral surgeons in the area or do you have some kind of deal with Zebovitz? Lastly why could you not write a simple referral so I could see a different surgeon? I made it clear to you I had no improvement after a year. I had to find another dentist for a referral and wasted months. If you really cared about my well being maybe you should try to communicate with my new surgeon and give any helpful information. I’ve seen every specialist you and Dr. Zebovitz recommended, who also happened to be expensive out of network providers. 0 improvement. What happened to the occlusal guard you were supposed to make me? No follow up from you or Zebovitz once I asked for a simple referral. Reality is you pawned me off to others and never accepted any responsibility for your failures. You seem to have a network of price gouging providers and refuse to let your patients see anyone else.
Having had lots of dental work in the past, and not having visited a dentist in years, I was just not looking forward to dealing with my sudden tooth emergency. I had to act fast, and with limited time, I researched Howard County Smiles through my benefits portal. Prior to my visit, there was great communication. It was via text, which normally I wouldn't do, but it saved time and it enabled me to get things started. I was lucky to get an appointment the next morning, but at the same time, it was the appropriate thing to do. Upon arrival, I received a warm welcome and, I guess, an ambassador gave me a brief tour and presented me with a welcome gift bag... and a menu of other niceties that were simply foreign to my previous experiences. Patient/Treatment areas are, for lack of better phrase, clinic chic. Obviously you know why you're there and what takes place, but the setting is modern and bright, nothing like the old, clinical institution-like settings I've experienced before. Also on that theme, I was happy to be presented with costs and details up front. I had numbers explained, and Dr. Becker provided me the kind of detail I required, so that I could make an appropriate decision. I don't know how many individuals I worked with, during my stay, but despite my slight fear and cautiousness, I did joke with the staff that it was kinda fun to feel like the center of attention for a bit, but that underscores how surprisingly little discomfort I experienced, considering how much action took place during my visit. There is more work to do, but without hesitation I've got follow-ups scheduled. I'm sure I'll remain a little bit nervous when it's time to go back, but, if you were as gun-shy as I was, I think you would do well to check out this practice.
Howard County Smiles greets everyone cheerfully, putting their patients at ease. They are so professional and care about their dental health. I like the hygientist there who gives important tips on keeping teeth and gums healthy. She cares. Dr. Becker discusses all costs associated with dental needs. They work with their patients so that they understand what insurance will pay...and what costs the patients will have to pay out of pocket. I appreciate their honesty and their help.
This place is a scam. They replaced a crown and did such a terrible job, I had to go to a different dentist to have it fixed. When I took the x rays there, they discovered that the tooth being repaired wasn't even fully pictured! They then double charged us and then had a billing department that was not accessible. I'm still trying to reach someone! Save your time and money from the scammer.
I am so happy to find this practice. My daughter was seen by Ann and Dr.Fierstein. They both were so kind and took their time explaining everything to my daughter so she was comfortable. All the staff we encountered were professional and the office is beautiful!
I would recommend them to anyone! I had a lot of previous work redone here and my teeth are so much better for it. I don’t have daily pain anymore and the pricing was very reasonable. Every one in the office is so kind and everything is explained very clearly to you so I never felt nervous.
