While not the "fanciest" place, it was well tended with clean sites, bathrooms and laundry. Showers were clean and lots of room for walking the dogs. We plan on using the river to sit and relax. Although we generally prefer State Parks, I would definitely come back. Don't miss the Elgin Station Grill and Bar...excellent food, right price!
They have a lot of full timers who stay here. We got kicked out with no reason given! They even quit taking our calls and with no one onsite made communication impossible. The jury listens to both parties before ruling. Well, not here and they refused my packages. This really hurt my business. Also, there were complications with charging our card and it took DAYS to credit back. I’m very disappointed at how we were treated and just ignored.
This is an o.k campground. There is zero trees around, just a dusty couple lanes for parking. 2/3 of the sites are filled with full timers that have definetely been here for a while. The long timers THINK they own the place but it's actually owned by the city. The bathroom facilities, although you need a code to enter the bathrooms, the facilities are pretty nice and kept up. There is river access off to the side of the campground. In summer months the water level is so low that there is no way to actually launch a boat from here bit good enough to just hang out on hot days at the sides and let the kids play in the water. Full hookups for the sites, trash containers on site.
It's ok here but there's one thing I have to point out. The bathrooms. The bathrooms are rarely cleaned and the toilet paper is out in 2/4 rooms. There is 2 bathroom/ shower buildings but only one is open. Also, this place seems to have a lot of long-term campers. Nearby activities: There is really nothing nearby besides a a small museum and a lake like a hour away.
Right by the water with boat launch. Tent area is very walkable and practically no tents there when we stayed. People in RVs are friendly. Shower floor is a bit dirty but good facilities.Location: 5/5
What a nice place to stay!
No manager, check in at Kiosk is very disorganized. The park rules are not followed. Long term occupants. Lots of noise early in the mornings. Lots of dogs barking. I called for codes to access the showers, and laundry, no one ever called me back. I asked for WIFI codes, no one ever called me back. I stayed to take the train tour at old Elgin depot. I will never stay there again. It is what happens when government owns and runs a business.
Nice little Gem tucked away. Priced nice.Service: 5/5
Super cheap!! Great location and always clean bathrooms and showers. Very pleased and always satisfied here. Plus who doesn't like watching bunnies run around the RV park. So cute! Super peaceful and quite not like many places I've been and stayed its usually loud when there are lots of people not here and management is the bomb
Nice, beautiful place you'll see horses and deer. The bathrooms are clean and warm showers are free to guest. One of the shower rooms are handicap accessible . Price for full hook ups are $30
