‘Humanities’ is an umbrella term for the study of the entire range of Literary and Artistic expressions – the words and images – of humankind. Humanities students seek to understand the questions, ideas and values behind these works, their individual and social significance, and the ways in which they, by expressing what we feel ourselves to be, also shape us into what we are to become as individuals, communities, and cultures. Through close examination of works of the past and present and from around the world we understand humankind’s diverse and varied relations with self, community, the natural world, and the greater cosmos.
Humanities and Cultural Studies at Dominican University of California offers interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary course work, service-learning in the community, internships, and the opportunity to produce creative and scholarly works with your future goals in mind.
