Within the College of Arts & Letters the Department of Political Science has one of the largest undergraduate programs and one of the largest graduate programs, being one of only three departments having a doctoral program. We have eight full-time faculty, three adjunct faculty, one active Professor Emeritus, a post-doctoral researcher, over 110 undergraduate majors, and over 45 graduate students. We offer the BA, BS, MA, MPA, and DA degrees. Our student organizations include the Pi Sigma Alpha Honors Society, the Pi Alpha Alpha honors society, the Law Club, and the ACLU Club. Our department and our programs are actively involved with the International Studies, American Studies, Women's Studies, and Secondary Education programs. Every semester over 1,200 students are enrolled in political science courses.
Political Science majors at ISU benefit from a faculty dedicated to teaching excellence, research and scholarship, and public service. A diversity of courses in all the major subfields of political science is offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The faculty is student friendly and very accessible, and our classes are small enough to allow for serious discussions and intellectual interaction. Student advising is an important part of the student-faculty relationship and internship opportunities are available.
Our department is located on the top floor of the north wing of Graveley Hall. Our Department Chair is Dr. Donna Lybecker. Our Department Administrative Assistant is Ms. Caroline Baergen. Please contact us if you have any questions about the political science department.
