I bought in my lamp which I truly valued. I had broken it and it really looked unfixable. Darlene and Phillip help me and made it look great again. A pleasure to work with them and they did a phenomenal job.
Philip and his team are wonderful to work with and extremely helpful! They answered all my questions and helped a great deal with me choosing 2 new bathroom light fixtures. Can’t wait for my next project to go back and pick out some additional gorgeous light fixtures. So many choices!!
They redesigned a damaged antique lighting fixture for us with great care and skill, and it looks great. The staff is caring, knowledgeable, and efficient.
In short, I've never had such a bad experience with a store in my life. It felt like we were buying fake items from Canal Street with a "no take backs" policy. We ended up stuck with a light in the wrong color for $1500 when it sells for $500 at Home Depot and Walmart. The store does not list or tell you the manufacturer's SKU of an item because otherwise you would shop around and realize you are paying 2-3x what you should. Long story coming... We went into the store looking for a nickel-finished light fixture for a foyer. We saw one we liked, and was told it was a nickel and that it comes in all finishes. Then, we payed $1200 for it plus $200 to lengthen the chain. On the receipt, there was an SKU number 2073-6 WG-CLR - with "WG" at the end, so we looked it up to show family members. This revealed it's a Golden Lighting Smyth Light in white gold, not nickel. This a champagne color which was hard for us to see in a store with lights everywhere. We also found out that the light sells for $400-600 elsewhere, which was a shock since were told it is "higher quality" than what is sold online. It's exactly the same. Because we purchased it on a Saturday, and were told the guy who can take it down wasn't in, we called back first thing the next day to cancel the order. We were told all orders are final and we could have store credit. We didn't want store credit because 1 We were in the store already and didn't see another light we might want and 2 We don't want credit where our money has 1/2 - 1/3rd the value Next, we ask to speak with the owner, who we were told was out of the store for a few days but would call us back. He never did, but then my son saw per these reviews his name was Philip, and when he called the store asking for Philip anonymously Philip was on the phone immediately. They got into a heated discussion and Philip essentially hung up on him. Philip actually told him white gold versus nickel is "semantics" which is quite unbelievable given we called the manufacturer of the light and were told it is not a nickel and looks very different. We don't actually really care about being charged 2-3x the price we should have been charged, but we are really upset about it being the wrong finish, because it wont match other fixtures in the area. I'm writing this review for other people to know that they should go elsewhere if they don't want to pay 2-3x the price they should for a store pretending to sell higher quality lights and then at the same time deal with terrible customer service. When we tried to cancel the order via credit card company but failed, we ultimately picked up the light. There was no instructions for assembly or product information - just a photocopied picture of the light a tactic I think to hide the information about what the product really was. I was hoping to support a local store as opposed to an online retailer. It's sad they treat the community like this. There was no good reason they couldn't refund us the day later when we realied it was not the color we wanted, asked about, and were told it was. The only reason was that they already had our money and a lot more of it than the light was worth.
I was SOOO EXCITED to go back to this lighting store..I have been there many years ago with my Mom.. at that time I remember picking up a few "unique lamps" for my home.. OUR experience was very different and enjoyable overall.. I recently stopped in with my daughter, looking for a "particular style light fixture" for my kitchen/ the moment we walked in our experience was very DISAPPOINTING Noone greeted us, the store felt very empty "DATED" and SOO dusty.. NOT nearly as "VIBRANT" as their "name" is on the front of their building!! There were two people a woman and a gentleman that finally greeted me.. Owners? I told her first exactly what I was looking for..She showed me "one". I have found the "same EXACT one in ANOTHER lighting store.. So I was price comparing. Their price was "tripled" the amount!! I was open to looking at similar options but she said there wasn't any. The "gentleman was "much kinder" and actually took the time to show me around, ask questions about my taste, price, my range etc. Wiping "DUST" off the light fixtures as we went along!/ but great personality and helpful not pushy which was very appreciated Needless to say we didn't purchase anything...Their prices are wayyy TOO HIGH / and not "any other" variety /options of THE FIXTURE I "originally came in for. The woman walked away from me the moment another customer came in the store! SOOO DISAPPOINTED My OVERALL EXPERIENCE was Not a good one..Will purchase the "same exact one / MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE somewhere else... DO "NOT" RECCOMEND
Philip and his staff at Illuminations are incredibly helpful and highly knowledgeable. They are all about customer service and making customers happy. I have been shopping at Illuminations for over 15 years and appreciate them very much. They are one of the few private retailers left that care about their products, customers. Just recently I bought two light fixtures that were missing parts in closed boxed. Clearly a manufacturer error but Philip took it upon himself to take the parts off the floor samples to give them to me for the inconvenience. Same thing happened with light bulbs when I realized once installing them that they didn't fit the fixture. He not only took them back without a problem but exchanged them for higher end light bulbs and didn't charge extra as a way to compensate for the hassle. I think many would agree that we as consumers are no longer prioritized by retailers in the same way and it is refreshing and much appreciated to see this happening at Illuminations. Thank you.
I had a very positive experience at “illuminations” today. I purchased two beautiful kitchen light fixtures at “illuminations” a year ago. At the time the owner suggested that I purchase better quality light bulbs which should last longer. Of course they cost more. Yesterday…. a year later…. the light started flickering so I returned to the store. The owner immediately gave me a new bulb for free. That is terrific customer service. In addition they also have a wonderful selection of light fixtures. I highly recommend shopping here.
We have purchased many lighting fixtures from Illuminations over the years. There are numerous choices and all are of excellent quality. Philip and Darlene are very friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with. We highly recommend that stop by and see for yourself.
I was looking for an Art Deco style fan for my new apartment, built in 1939. Not only was Illuminations able to provide me with a beautifully unique Art Deco fan that is now discontinued, they were even able to modify it to fit a 4” Glass Art Deco shade that I’ve had for years. I can’t wait to install it in my new place. 5 stars!
My husband and I had a terrific experience at Illuminations. Darlene and Phil could not have been more helpful and knowledgeable. Darlene seemed to know exactly what we were looking for and provided many options. We finally decided on an item which was exactly what we needed. They even offered us a loaner item while we waited for our purchase to be delivered. The store is stock full of many interesting and beautiful items for the home -not just lamps -worth a visit
