For more than 50 years, IPHA has provided education and training, formed partnerships and networks and servied as a recognized voice for advocacy.
The Indiana Public Health Association was formed in 1946 to unify efforts for advancing public health in the state of Indiana. Starting with only 26 members, the Association grew to over 600 members within two years. An annual meeting was established, committees were formed and IPHA became an affiliate of the American Public Health Association. In 1997, through a grant from the Indiana State Department of Health, IPHA hired its first full-time staff person.
Today, IPHA continues on the foundation created over fifty years ago by bringing together health care providers, environmental health professionals, registrars and educators in partnership with Indiana communities to be a voice for the health of the public.
The mission of the Indiana Public Health Association (IPHA) is to strengthen public health through partnerships, policies and professional development.
