This was our second stay at the hotel and it seems Covid is still effecting the hotel. We had stayed here about 10 years ago and it was nice and comfortable--and definitely busier. The common areas are very spare, table and chairs but no decorations of any sort. The restaurant was not busy but we were told "happily we are taking walk-ins tonight" We asked to sit by the window and were told the waitstaff needed to be rotated so we had to sit elsewhere. I guess the restaurant is run for the waitstaff not the customer. The food was good but not exceptional for the price. The waitress was very professional, nice and attentive. Our room was a very large coincidentally handicapped accessible suite so two balconies and lots of space. 1 and 1/2 bathrooms, very comfortable clean bed. Bathroom had lots of towels and condiments, Jacuzzi bath tub. The hotel over all was very quiet and peaceful. There was no noise from the casino. The bar looks permanently closed. There are a couple of casual places to eat. Overall the hotel/casino seemed to have not awoken from the pandemic yet.
*Update: we stayed here for 5 nights and could not get a maid to clean our room even once. We called for service twice but the first time, they said we had to leave for them to clean. We said we were leaving for church in 30 minutes and they said they would come back but never did. The second time they just didn't show up. We were able to have them deliver sheets for the sofa bed and some fresh towels, but that was it. Beautiful property but not great service and I would have expected water glasses in the suite, not just two coffee cups. Fortunately, we brought a lot of our own stuff due to it being the holidays. On a positive note, the food court is great. I think that just opened this year and we ate at several of the places there and the food was outstanding, with fast and friendly service. We are staying at Inn of the Mountain Gods right now and it is fantastic. It is beautiful and there are so many things to do without even leaving the hotel. Our room is clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the lake. The suite fridge is tiny, but it's not designed to be a kitchenette. One of the plastic coffee cups is cracked, but I am sure we won't have a problem getting a replacement or extras. It is an expensive hotel, but we feel like it is still a good value and will be back!
The rooms are very clean and spacious. If you get the chance make sure to get a room with a view over the lake and mountains. Beautiful! Plenty of great food choices too. I haven't used their spa services yet but I hear they're wonderful. And of course the casino is lots of fun too. They're customer service is excellent.Rooms: 5/5
If you book a room here at this place. Make sure everything in the room works before booking make sure you make them go check.. also make sure it’s clean. I usually don’t like to write bad reviews but everything including the staff was not right. We stayed in room 719. We walked in and the room had left over food in the fridge from the last people. The bed looked as if they rushed everything together.. bed lighting was not working had to connect it myself.. I called and told them about these issues and they took a long time to come correct them. Also noticed the outside patio light was out had them tell maintenance about it and he didn’t even show I called a second time to know if he did or didn’t because I didn’t know if he had stopped by or not didn’t even leave a note. He shows up late just to tell me he can’t fix it. I’m like you could have told the lady at the front she could have told me that herself. already really bad communication between staff… we go to bed it starts to get super cold I go to turn on the Heater and no batteries on the thermostat.. we had. A super cold night…. I tried to take the batteries from the remote and guess what.. batteries are dead.. experience for my wife & I was a -0 staff wasn't friendly at all. Except for the restroom cleaning crew down stairs they had the best attitude. Thumbs up for them. This place needs to get it together. Too bad I can’t upload photos and videos..
This golf course is a wonderful and beautiful course. It is kept up with beautifully and the grounds manager is a pretty cool man. He took good care of us and got us going on the back half so there was no rush for the inexperieced member of the party. It was a great experience. However, I give this a three out of five stars because the employees here will try to keep your change and some will even try to belittle you as if you "need" $.37 just because you expect to be given your change back. The man working in the pro shop asked me if I wanted my $.37 in change. I said yes and he looked at me and asked, "do you need$.37?" I was astounded that he would speak to a paying customer that way simply because i expected to be given back my change. That's beyond rude. It took an amazing golfing experience and made me not want to come back. The reasoning, as one woman stated, was because golfers "don't like change"...yeah that was hands down the dumbest excuse they could have given for that. I have NEVER been told that or asked that, as a golfer. If you don't want to give back change, then round the dollar and stop asking people if they need their money returned to them. The answer is always yes, unless THEY tell you to keep it. We may give this place another shot because of how amazing the course is but it looks like we won't be spending too much extra money on the premises as long as the employees feel entitled to keep the change.
We had a great n awesome time. Staff was very friendly and helpful.. food was delicious. Fireworks were amazing "best I've seen". Zipping was so much fun. Paddle boats n golf were just as fun. They only issue was the room "was beautiful" they gave us the window view was 2nd story roof tops. Other than that. Actually we booked again for late October.
This review is only for the casino as we did not have the time or pleasure to enjoy the accommodations. We arrived after a fantastic day of skiing near by and had heard terrific rumors regarding the establishment. My party enjoyed good service and company as we trialed various tables and had a very memorable time. The decor was very tasteful and the staff were extremely polite. We hope to return to try the hotel portion during our next visit and particularly to take advantage of the location to the Mescalero Lake
Room wasn’t as expected. My husband and I got a deluxe suite and we were not impressed. If you are someone who appreciates cleanliness, try looking for another place to stay. The first 20 minutes, we spent killing mosquitoes and wiping down night stands because there were greasy fingerprints left on the surfaces. The bed was not cozy or inviting, it didn’t even have a fitted sheet on the mattress. It had a sheet that just laid on top. Which led me to find the stained mattress beneath it. The room overall has a musty smell and a dirty feel to it. Definitely doesn’t feel clean or look it. We loved the view and location of this hotel. But we don’t think we got what we paid for.
I stay here monthly during a week for work. Unfortunately, the advertised activities are mostly only open during the weekends only. Many of the food places in the new market are even closed Mon-Wed. The Inn needs to figure out housekeeping services and start providing it daily; pay workers more ?! The cleanliness of the rooms has taken a hit over the past 1.5 years; during this stay, there was hair in the tub and a strong foul odor coming from the drains. I have enjoyed occasional blackjack and the slots seem well-maintained for the slot zombies. The balconies are a nice touch for many of the rooms. This place has nice bones and could be so much more! Lots of positives but they have a lot to work on.
We have been staying at your resort for many years. The cleanliness of the rooms and general area has gone downhill tremendously. Starting from the parking area, elevators and carpets. Service in your restaurants are terrible and the employees working there don't seem to care at all. Attention to detail is what truly makes a great resort but you don't seem to be taking care of the basics. Your casino stays quite busy so I assume you are making a profit but you certainly aren't spending it on training. The only area that doesn't seem to have suffered is the quality of the landscaping. It will be a long time before I spend any time or money at your resort again.
