Inspiration Point, Will Rogers State Park

Nice easy hike of about 2.25mi. Start by going left so you can get some tree cover at the end of the loop. Be sure to go earlier in the day during summer since it can get pretty hot with cover on the trail. The actual point has several resting benches and a wide view all the way to the ocean. Some days it can be a big foggy and hard to see the ocean clearly. Paid parking lot at the beginning of the trail

Excellent hike! There are endless trails if you want to keep going, or a relatively easy 2.5 mile loop including the peak as seen here on a cloudy day. Parking situation can be a little difficult, there's an extra lot in the back. You need to display the ticket on the dash or else you'll get a citation! Price for entry: $6 Ticket type: 2 hours

Easy access and very doable even for a novice. Great view; from snow covered San Gabriel Mountains, across the entire L.A. basin, to Palos Verdes to Catalina and San Clemente Islands across the entire Santa Monica Bay and all the way to Santa Barbara Island.

A short, family friendly hike although it is genuinely a walk in the park up from the parking lot to get here. You get a great view of the ocean and and the cities around the park. Don't forget to check out the quotes on all the park & picnic benches!

Aaaahhhhhhh...the fresh air, the clear sky, all the wildlife, the surrounding greenery, and the beautiful sunny weather all made this quite an adventure for being such a short, easy hike. The view from any one of the benches really is as good as it gets. You can see the coastline and the city skyscrapers in the same shot. Will Roger's house is a nice stop along the way, but the real treat is that view from Inspiration Point. This is not a touristy spot, so it wasn't crowded. We even spotted a deer family on our last visit

Beautiful views and trails feel remote. Great way to spend an early morning or evening.

Excellent view point at the start of Backbone Trail.

One of my favorite sunrise hikes on the west side, especially if you can make it to the bridge or beyond before sunrise. A beautiful hike in general, and the hike to inspirational point is very family friendly. If you see me on the path don’t be afraid to say hello.

Great 1 hour hike. Went in January and it was overcast but clear viability. Great views from coast to DTLA and the hills. Easy for kids, bikes, horses. No need for hiking shoes - tennis shoes were fine. Despite some light rain the trail was not muddy at all. I would recommend going clockwise on this loop.
