PRIMER GRUPO INFANTIL DE TIPICO Y CONGO DE MARYLAND
The Institute of National Dance was founded in July 2012 in Lanham, Maryland. IND is the only folkloric dance school for children in the DC Metropolitan Area. Passionate about dance and Panama, Tanya Thompson founded IND to share her passions and love of dance with children in the area. She envisioned the Institute to be more than a dance group; she wanted it to be a place, where children could learn about different cultures, languages and the art of storytelling through dance.
IND welcomes students from ages 5 through 12 to learn praise dance and Congo, led by Owner/Director Tanya Thompson, who is joined by Tipico instructors’ Alvin Bacilio and Sandra Montgomery. The instructors and family volunteers strive to create a village working together for each child.
The Institute of National Dance (IND) strives to introduce students to the culture, language and folkloric dance native to Panama; as well as, other cultural dances, languages and music for performers of all ability levels. Through cultural dance, IND strives to inspire students to be confident, motivated and disciplined individuals.
