The museum has state of the art items as per with museum of modern city's. A highly recommended place to be visit who live history.
A place so rich in history and heritage. In 9 or so halls you can walk through thousands of years of mankind struggle on earth and the development of religious thoughts. A must viist place. Do try to hire some guide while you are there or you will miss on many important relics.
Historic museum was conceived in 1959 under the aegis of the Italian Archaeological Mission to Swat and the Wali of Swat to contain his personal collection of artifacts. It was later expanded with the assistance of the Japanese government, but was badly damaged in the Kashmir earthquake of 2005. With the war between the Pakistan government and Taliban in 2007, the museum was closed and its contents were moved to Taxila, this proved lucky as a bomb exploded nearby in February 2008 killing many and damaging the museum. The 2,700 objects were returned to the museum in July 2011and a new seismic-resistant museum was opened on December 11.

The Swat Museum is located on the main road Mingora-Saidu Sharif. It has an extensive collection of Gandhara sculptures found at various Buddhist sites in the region. Built in 1958 with the collaboration of the Italian Archaeology Mission, it was damaged first in 2005 during an earthquake and then again in 2009 during an explosion when the region was in Taliban hands. Closed for seven years, it reopened in 2014. Very well arranged, the museum includes nine rooms framing a small garden. There are sculptures and bas-reliefs telling the story of Buddha's life, jewellery, ancient coins, terracotta statues, weapons, embroidered clothing, as well as various other objects, material witnesses to the rich history of the Swat Valley. #copied

It's a traditional museum for Gandhara History you can't search for new rising of swat in here. It can be more interesting if they show the portfolio of places to visit in swat or nearby for travelers
It is located between Mingora and Saidu Sharif. The museum showcases the main antiques and Buddhist artifacts which are the hub of glorious civilization
