We recently moved to the Junction City, OR, and not knowing the area, we were relying on Craigslist and the BBB for leads on a fencing contractor. It was proving to be very difficult to get anyone to return calls, let alone show up. On a drive into Eugene on Hwy 99, we passed Island Fence. I stopped in on the way home and spoke with Brandon. Brandon made an appointment for the following week on Wednesday and gave me his card. The following week, he showed up as scheduled, measured everything, and returned a multi-options bid by the following Monday. We chose the black coated chain link based on appearance and price compared to the other options. He was upfront and honest about a possible 8 week wait before they could start. They set the posts on a Friday, let the concrete cure a week, and came back and finished the following Friday and Monday. The fence looks great and the customer service is exceptional. It should be stated that I was told by a gentleman at a local hardware store, I should expect their quote to be high, but the quality would match. The only other fence company to show up to bid only provided a price for one option I asked for and that was more than $2,000 more than the same option priced by Island Fence. Three other companies didn’t show at all, and one business owner told me it would be 3 months to start once we approved the bid, but he had no idea when he could even find the time to show up to measure. These folks either don't really want small residential jobs or they are just flat crazy. 320' of square rolled fence, we supply the posts and they quoted $7500. Over $25 per foot. Really? They were $5500 over the other 2 companies. Stay far away from this place.

We heard about this company from a neighbor, and we had a very good experience. They installed a wood privacy fence with two gates, it looks great, is very straight and sturdy, and we've gotten many compliments. They were very reliable, gave us an idea in advance of when they could come out to do the estimate and the work and then followed up a day or two before to confirm. They arranged for the utility companies to come out and mark the site in advance to avoid digging into anything. The manager, John, was very helpful listening to what we were trying to accomplish and providing advice and ideas when he came to look at our site. I was a little worried the gate would be heavy to move, but they used a high quality metal frame and spring and it's perfect. We paid in the mid-to-high end, but I felt it was worth it to have someone reliable. My neighbor was home when the fence was going in and she noticed they were good workers - didn't take a lot of breaks, good attitude, etc. Very happy and will check with them again for our next fence project.

So the price is a little better here, BUT you can't load your own truck cannot choose your own boards. So when 10% isn't installable due to warp and wain you cannot return or exchange it the next day unless you get the premium fence board which is nearly 2x the price. You might save 5% but you have to buy 10% more.

I wouldnt waste your time with this company. I gave them a site map of my property and asked for an estimate...was told it would take 3 to 4 days... after 8 days I came back and was told it would require another 3 to 4 days that was 33 days ago and still no estimate... if their work ethic is this bad I'm glad I found out before paying them to do work.
