Our graduates are employed by major companies and government agencies, and often continue their studies in graduate programs.
Computer science combines the intellectual challenge of a new discipline with the excitement of being part of an innovative and rapidly expanding technology. The Jackson State University (JSU) Department of Computer Science was established in 1972 as a part of the Division of Natural Sciences. Over the years, our growth has accelerated steadily making us currently one of the largest departments at the University.
The mission of the Computer Science Department is to seek students who share our appreciation and desire for intellectual inquiry and challenge in order to provide learning experiences and activities designed to help students choose and initiate successful careers in any area of Computer Science that will contribute to the social, cultural and economical development of the state and the nation.
The Department of Computer Science offers two degrees: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Master of Science in Computer Science.
