Our mission is to engage and enrich lives by displaying and conserving plants in harmony with our Northern California coastal ecosystems. This magnificent 47-acre site is one of the few public gardens located directly on the ocean’s shore. The mild maritime climate on the Mendocino Coast makes the Gardens a wonder year-round; each changing season brings new flora and fauna. We welcome visitors and our local community to experience the rugged beauty of the Mendocino Coast mixed with the peaceful tranquility of our garden by the sea."

Absolutely beautiful Gardens. It costs $20 per person for non-locals. It's well worth it if you love plants. There's a large variety of flowers, trees, vegetables, herbs, shrubs, bushes, cactus and even some fruit plants. The dahlia garden is breathtaking. There's many different sections of plants and pathways to follow. One of my favorite sections was the showhouse for the flowers. Both restrooms and sitting benches are posted along the many paths, too. There are even plants available to buy and a gift shop/ Cafe on site.
Beautiful gardens and best time to enjoy is during spring when everything blooms. There is self guided tour for people who wants to get more information. It's a great place to get your steps, past the gardens are great walking trail that leads to ocean views. We love coming here every year we spend our vacation in Fort Bragg. The food court isn't so bad either, small but decent selection of Cafe items to deserts for the little ones.
This location was a beautiful way to spend an afternoon with the family. With two main paths and a plethora of paths snaking between the two, they had plenty to see and a lot of picture worthy areas. After all was said and done, my family had walked around 2 miles and finished our trip cooling off in the café area with some refreshing strawberry lemonade.
Stunning gardens! We traveled to CA to drive the CA Coast Hwy 1 from San Francisco to Leggett, CA. One of our planned stops was the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden because it’s the height of their dahlia season, and I’m a huge dahlia fan. We were not disappointed! The garden was spectacular! Absolutely full of blooms of all colors and variety! We missed the rhododendron and rose seasons, but the plants were huge and healthy so I’m sure the display was fantastic! We loved the succulents garden! The aloe plants were gigantic! The gift shop was excellent and had lots of items from seed packets to wind chimes and potted plants for sale. I was able to use my Cheekwood Botanical Garden membership for a free reciprocal admission! We at lunch at their on-site cafe! Delicious! See my review. The gardens are dog friendly and offer special programs throughout the year. They have a dedicated wheelchair accessible path as well as hiking paths through the garden to the bluffs above the ocean. We spent about 2.5 hours there including lunch. I highly recommend stopping there when traveling through Mendocino!

Almost 50 acres of stunningly beautiful gardens that lead right to the coast. I visited during the time of year the rhododendrons were blooming which was just unbelievably gorgeous. The Rhody's at mendo gardens are unrivaled. Even if plants aren't your thing, the scenery alone is worth the trip. Check out the veggie garden too! Superb work and kudos to the staff and folk that make it happen
This was a good place to go for a walk see a lot of different flowers plants they also had a lot of little streams running through the property. We took the half mile walk through the botanical gardens down through a few different trails to the coast it was a beautiful day. Can't wait to go back in the spring when everything is blooming this place is going to be gorgeous.
Such a fun and lovely place! Took the walk all the way out to the coast with some amazing views! Not very crowded which was so nice : had a lovely small lunch at the cafe and we got some edible flowers! Gift shop also had lots of cute stuff!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$16–20
We visited on 7/28 the dahlias were in all their glory. Different seasons will offer a different experience. We happened to be blessed with a sunny day and were treated with beautiful coastal views as well as the flora and fauna.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
What a beautiful place to visit for our anniversary. Price is a little steep, but we splurged. The rhodies are gorgeous, and so many were blooming when we visited in early April. The coast walk is also really nice. If I Iived around here, I would join for sure. Bathrooms are plentiful. Most trails are easy to navigate. Would highly recommend for anyone who loves plants like me! Restrooms: They flush! Dog-friendliness: There are lots of dogs, and most were leashed and most people seemed to pick up after their dogs.
