"A little bit of history in each piece"
My first interest in art really kicked off during one summer break of middle school. I had been selected for an art scholarship to an Art Institute in my hometown of Springfield, Ohio. Not only did I gain a variety of new art skills, I discovered I truly enjoy using all mediums in my projects.
Some of my past has influenced my creative vision over the years. THe most influential time in my life was when I joined the navy in 1996, just after graduating high school. This voyage brought me to the Hampton Roads, where I now call home. It was here I started my family.
I made the choice to leave the navy in 2000 after it had caused me to miss my daughter's 1st birthday. Ever since then I have become the father of five beautiful girls, all of which I am very proud of. They inspire to me to be a better person. In the end I want them to have a reason to be proud of me, too.
For ten years I have been a welder for Epsilon company, where my main tasks involve working with recompression chambers for navy divers. I also work on dive systems and naval ships. This is where I get most of the materials and artifacts for my art. I try to incorporate history into every piece of my work--you could say that each piece of history has a piece of art in it!
It is one of my goals to be known for something before I die. I am a bit of an overachiever and perfectionist, and I am always striving to do bigger and better things.
