This is the Hyland Hills Sports Center. It was recently knocked down and rebuilt. The new building is really nice. Half of it is dedicated to gymnastics the other half is a gym with basketball courts and a small workout facility. They also have activity rooms that can be rented out. The workout facility is small and overlooks both the gymnastics area and the basketball courts. They have drop in pickleball indoors that they host on the basketball courts each day. Lots of seating indoors. It's right next to a large playground too.
Laurel is one of the best coaches here! My daughter has liked her since day one and wishes she could be her coach.
I hope that this was the first & last time I see my daughter being walked out of the gymnastics building by one of the coaches. Let alone BAREFOOT. If my daughter was a teen & she was waiting for her parents MAYBE then taking her out of the building would be understandable but no she’s only 6. Let alone BAREFOOT. & yet I see no problem with them waiting inside. You would think that with all the missing children cases, coaches wouldn’t take the slightest risk for something bad happening. Completely DISAPPOINTED.
Absolutely love this gym. I make a fair drive to take my kid here. The coaching staff is so sweet and kind with her toddler class. I have other family that is in an older advanced level and we are all impressed with the level they teach at. And regarding meets. Yes, is a smaller gym when it comes to the observatory deck. However, they do a great job informing all gymnast and parents via email that you should have 2 spectators per child. I couldn’t imagine turning a family away at the door so yes sometimes more spectators than 2 show per kid. But what can you do? Show up early and wait. Just like any general admission show you would pay for.
My daughter 3 is currently enrolled in Roly-Poly gymnastics. My older sons were in gymnastics when they were between 5-7 years old as well here. The facility is clean, well-kept, well-lit and well-equipped. We are definitely in the "just for fun" camp with gymnastics at least for now, so I cannot speak to the quality of the competitive coaching, but I will say that my daughter has seen numerous instructors here and it has always been my experience that they are friendly, patient and kind with the young children in their class. There's a great viewing area for parents and some basic amenities for younger siblings who come to the class as well. Definitely feel fortunate to have access to this facility.
My daughter started at Hyland Hills Gymnastics when she was six years old, and I cannot overstate how much I appreciate what Hyland Hills and the sport of gymnastics in general has done for my daughter's development as she has grown into the 3.9+ GPA college student she has become. Hyland Hills gave her room to fall down, help to get up, and the confidence that comes from that cycle. The staff is incredibly dedicated to turning out good kids. There will probably never be an Olympic gymnast that comes out of Hyland Hills It IS a parks and rec gym!, but the percentage of good kids that come from Hyland Hills is extraordinary. I cannot recommend Hyland Hills Gymnastics highly enough!
My oldest has been going here for 5 years and my youngest for 2 years. I love the staff, the facility is always clean, and the price is reasonable! Karla and the coaches are awesome and really care about the kids.
After reading the previous reviews we were concerned at how the meet this past weekend would go. Luckily it went very good. There was enough seating for I would estimate up to 165/170 spectators. The staff was accomodating and kind, we witnessed a speedy and genuinely concerned response to a visiting gymnast who had a bloody nose.
This gym has no business hosting gymnastics meets. They had about 75 girls participating and room for about 50 parents to observe. Then they came through and told everyone, who was standing to watch, that they would have to move out of the way due to the fire code. They didn’t bother to turn anybody away at the front door when taking their payments. Even though they knew, there was no way possible these parents would be able to see their kids compete. It was very irresponsible on their part... very frustrating experience all the way around.
Abolutely the most UNORGANIZED Gymnastic meet that I have ever attended. The award ceremony was a joke. These kids work very hard and for the award ceremony to be thrown together like it was, was like a slap in the face to all those kids. People running the meet were RUDE, people had to wait outside for hours at a time waiting for the previous meet to get over, there was no place to sit, took almost 5 hours to complete the meet. HORRIBLY PUT TOGETHER ALL AROUND. They should NEVER hold another meet there!!!!! The people working the meet complained that we were standing in the hallway and had to move due to fire restrictions but, I GUARANTEE THEY WERE WAY OVER CAPACITY?
