Westminster College Gymnasium in Fulton, Missouri was the site of Winston Churchill's March 5, 1946 \"Sinews of Peace\" speech, in which he stated that
\"From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the Continent.\"
The speech at Westminster College focused on the United Nations, nuclear proliferation and Soviet expansion.
The 80 feet by 155-foot brick structure was built in 1928-29 with two-story office blocks to either side of the prominent entrance block, backed by the gymnasium. The entrance is designated by fluted Corinthian pilasters framing punched window openings.
In 1968, the gymnasium was designated a National Historic Landmark, as the venue for Churchill's speech before an audience of 2800.
