We were loyal customers to JP. My wife and my daughter 5 years old went to JP to buy Fathers' day stuffs at the Wheaton MD location and in between my daughter ranaway into the food court and her mam tried to get her at the gate but the alarm made a sound. The security guard disrespectful hold my wife and daughter. My wife tried to explain the situation, but they mistreated my wife and 5yrs old daughter, SAD. We decided to return back the JP credit card and cancel our membership with JP!!!
I wish I could give zero star, I been to 2 different levels and no register was working finally after 20 minutes I found one and the cashier on that register had pathetic attitude her name was Yeslin no empathy towards customer and one Mexican guy was behind her and they take 25 minutes to find out the price for stuff, I end up left the store with no Purchase
Very big store with lots of items, decent selection, and good prices, but clothing is not often in stock. VERY long wait for checkout, even just to pick up online orders. They need to hire more staff. Navigating the store is difficult. Their giant map uses ridiculously tiny font.
Great stores to shop in especially when sales are going on.
Truly the Twilight Zone of department stores. I cut through the store often to get to the Target on the other side of the mall, and it's amazing how infrequently the stock is turned over. Clothing options are about 3 years out of date, and overpriced by a good 40-60%, considering it's all of sweatshop quality. On the few occasions I've had to buy something here, I've wanted to give up and put my items back because the lines for the cashier are ridiculous. This is baffling to me, because there are VERY few shoppers in the store at any one time, so you'd think there wouldn't be any lines to check out. This is probably because their computer system seems to run on the same operating system as a Tamagotchi, but even slower. It's a wonder that this store is still around.
Took a 45 minute trip there after work only to find out that they close their fitting room at 7pm even though the store closes at 8! 20 minutes before is reasonable, but a whole hour??? Clearly they care more about their own convenience than customer service.

I was compelled to after a very negative experience this evening in the JC Penney in Wheaton Westfield Mall. My wife and I just left with our son, who was there to purchase a suit. When he went to try on his merchandise, we noticed the dressing room was blocked off. Apparently, there has been a recent uptick in shoplifting, and there seems to be a policy though nowhere visibly posted for the customers where dressing rooms are closed at 7pm although the mall closes at 8pm. While I can understand the need to address the theft issue, there needs to be clear signage to this effect. Also in JCPenney particularly when we expressed our concern regarding the inability to try on our selection, we were told we could by an employee who we believed was a manager, but when our son approached the dressing room another employee approached us very rudely with a raised voice. When we shared that we were told we could try on our purchase quickly by another manager, she continued to yell. When we asked to speak to her manager and gave her the name of the manger we spoke with, she rudely pointed her finger and told us to find another manager ourselves, refusing to get her for us. She then went to find the manager, at which time she and her manager began yelling at me as the customer, flailing their arms in anger in a very dismissive manner. This was extremely unnecessary and frankly unacceptable customer service! Needless to say, we left the merchandise and decided not to make the purchase, but we were followed like criminals from the store. This was beyond disappointing and highly upsetting for my family. Hopefully, service will improve moving forward!!
Only moderately rate this store because finding open registers or sales persons has been very frustrating if you need assistance or wish to complete a purchase. Selections for clothing are great, sizes abound, nice selection and price range for all jewelry. Furniture and household items departments have good selections and prices,but never seem to have many shoppers while lower floors for clothes and accessories are often quite busy..They advertise their well stocked Sephora makeup department, but it only sells products and allows shoppers to try different ones, but they cannot assist in suggestions or trials nor helping to use the different kinds of products. Also, it seems open products to try are not sanitary since multiple shoppers can try the same open container. Would recommend it for sealed, new package of refills.
I was waiting in line longer then I was shopping. I went to the register waited so long i went to another just to get sent back to the first register and still had to wait behind the same person which was an employee.
