Stride Rite Wheaton is an independant Stride Rite Dealer in Business since 1976. In addition to Stride Rite footwear we also stock a full line of Nike, New Balance, Timberland, Adidas, Reebok, Kenneth Cole, Sperry, Saucony, Merrell, Keen, and others. We sell soccer, foootball & baseball shoes, as well as soccer shin guards. For children taking dance lessons we carry ballet, tap and jazz shoes, including tight and leotards for the girls.

The fantastic customer service and great selection of casual and specialty shoes cleats, cowboy boots, dance shoes for infants, children and even smaller-adults. I've taken my child here for his last 2 pairs of shoes. Each time, we are provided a wide selection of available shoes. This is great because that allows my son to pick a pair we BOTH agree on. And the professional service assures we are always properly sized.
Gary was super helpful, patient, and kind helping us correctly size our 2.5 year old for shoes. We will definitely go back.
I did not appreciate the customer service from the manager/owner Rick when I called the store regarding a return. Rick said his employee who my first conversation was with gave me misinformation about a return. I asked if he would allow the return based on the information provided by the employee. Rick responded very angrily. He raised his voice and was very rude. As a manager, his tone was extremely inappropriate and unprofessional. I will take my business elsewhere.
This Stride Rite location embodies customer service done right! The store manager Rick was SUPER helpful and went above and beyond to help me understand the selection of shoes for my "first time walker" as well as searched the store inventory to ensure the item I had in mind from the online inventory was in stock at the Wheaton location. Definitely a happy customer!
Very poor customer service and behavior from the owner Rick. We came to this store because Striderite.com has a current promotion for their annual sandal sale. We got our 2-year-old measured and tried on some sandals, but they didn’t have any colors he likes. We took pics of the sandals that fit him so we could order them in the right colors when Rick got them in. However, Rick raised his voice and said he took offense at us taking photos and went off on how he’s a local retailer who doesn’t associate with what they do on Striderite.com. I told him, “You made your point. We’ll take our business elsewhere.” And we tried to leave. However, he followed us and kept trying to escalate the situation and pointed to a sign showing some shuttered local Stride Rite stores. I turned back to him and said, “Dude, I said you made your point. We’re taking our business elsewhere.” And we left. 1 If the owner constantly needs to explain to customers that he’s a locally owned retailer, then he needs to stop paying for the Stride Rite license and have his own privately named store. 2 People take photos of items in stores all the time; most stores have a price match guarantee. 3 His behavior was wholly inappropriate and uncalled for, especially in a store for children. I'd recommend just shopping on Striderite.com.
Wonderful experience. Came here after parting ways with Fit Rite Kids Shoes in South Riding because they are booked clear to January for fittings. Gary was awesome and my son is so comfy in his shoes now
Good selection of nice quality shoes for kids. Friendly staff who helps you get a legit measurement of kids foot size which is really important. Usually buy once pair here and get a proper fitting, then buy a backup pair at Target once we know the right size.
Honestly this place was heaven sent! Gary was super attentive and knowledgeable. There are very little places that offer a wide or extra wide selection in kids sneakers and this location had a nice selection. I walked out with 3 pairs of sneakers for both of my boys. High recommend them!
I have shopped at stride 20 plus years ago, up until 7 years ago l have been a regular customer. I didn't appreciate the bad customer service from the sales person maybe Manger, size my daughter feels at a 4. The shoe l wanted came in a 3, l ask to see the shoe,she has had this particular brand over the years and they run big. He went back and forth with me saying she can't fit it ,it's not her size. I said angrily bhering me the shoe. Long story short she can fit it and actually it's too big,we brought the shoes
Very awesome place to buy kid's shoes. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. They also have a wonderful selection for kids who have wide or narrow feet. They also carry ballerina shoes for your little ballerina. And they also carry beanie babies and wonderful rain coat ,boots ,and umbrella Matching sets.
