An attorney and member in good standing of the Quebec Bar for 15 years, Jean-Mathieu Potvin's practice is focused on Canadian business immigration, international mobility and citizenship law. A valued partner for his clients, Jean-Mathieu assists small & medium-sized and multinational businesses, institutions, executives, professionals, students and their dependants seeking entry into Canada on both a temporary and permanent basis.

Jean-Mathieu has successfully represented clients from the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia in a wide range of immigration matters with Canadian, Quebec and other provincial immigration authorities, such as business visitor entries, LMIA exemptions, work permits, provincial nominations, CSQ and permanent residence applications, study permits, family sponsorship, citizenship and overcoming inadmissibility.
In the realm of publication, Jean-Mathieu has maintained a blog on Canadian immigration developments. He has researched and delivered numerous studies and papers on issues of legal and cultural pluralism in the West, the Middle East and North Africa for international academic gatherings, government bodies and NGOs. In connection with these pursuits, he was awarded a Canadian Graduate Scholarship (SSHRC) and Doctoral Research Fellowship (FQRSC) in 2005.
Jean-Mathieu is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association and Quebec Immigration Lawyers Association (AQAADI). He holds a B.A. in Political Science from McGill University, a civil law degree (LL.B.) from University of Montréal as well as a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (UK).
