The Sheriff’s Office employs over 200 staff members to include full-time sworn-certified deputies, part-time sworn-certified deptuies and volunteer (special deputies. The primary service responsibility of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Uniformed Patrol Division area consists areas within Jefferson County (those area with Jefferson County that are outside city limits). The county is divided into four (4) geographical zones, which consist of 87/ sq miles. This service area is subdivide into specific geographic areas of directed patrol and investigative responsibility composed of one division with three (3) rotating shifts.

The mission of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is to provide the citizens of Jefferson County with excellence. Our public service is through the aggressive pursuit of violators of the law and the prevention of crime and disorder. This is accomplished by a partnership with the sheriff’s office and the public to enhance the quality of life, reduce the fear of crime and preserve the peace.
