We last dined here in early 2019 and concluded that absolutely loved this destination. Service, food and ambience was amazing. As we were considering a place for a “date night,” we opted to return first time post-Covid. Probably not our best choice. Walked in and the host just stared at me … I actually had to say “can we have dinner here?” He then pointed to the room vaguely. After a few more questions I chose a table past the newer section into what we remembered as the cozy dining area. Obviously there has been a re-do since our last visit. Bottom line is that we were simply underwhelmed. Service was average. Food was average. Atmosphere was average. They were out of meatloaf which I remember living in the past. My roasted chicken has zero flavor and the asparagus was pretty tough to eat. We had to ask halfway through the meal for bread. Not the worst place to eat, but there are far too many other options out there in the region if I’m spending money. I’d love to see this establishment return to what it was before. That said, maybe the decision is to cater to a different crowd and that’s ok as well.
Ate here twice in a week and had a great experience both times. Food was excellent and the service was terrific. The meatloaf was off the charts good. Friendly and service oriented staff. The restaurant is in a large open room with tall ceilings so although the place was packed the noise wasn't distracting. Prices were commensurate for the area. Parking: Plenty of free parking behind the restaurant.
After arriving on Friday evening around 7 o’clock, four of us walked in only to stand at the front of the restaurant. No host there to greet anyone. We we’re waiting on four others to join us for dinner. When the server or hostess or whoever it was walked over to greet us, she was exceptionally rude. The first words out of her mouth were, “We are on about a 35 to 45 minute wait.” with a scowl on her face As if she didn’t want us to dine in the restaurant at all. Understaffed or not. I have lived in this town all of my life and I would prefer to support local business. I can assure you that I will never go back into this place. Nor will the two guests from Europe who own a large furniture business in this town. We would’ve loved to go and sit at the bar while we waited and enjoy a drink or two but her attitude, this not the first time we’ve experienced it, was ridiculous. I would think with the new remodel that just took place growing the business would be something beneficial, but again I feel we basically were asked to leave. There’s no doubt she was deterring us from staying. I’m sure there will be some lame reply like “I’m sorry your experience was not a good one”. We often try supporting this restaurant and when we do there is always 6-10 of us. I’m so frustrated about the service in this town and especially from a place like yours that is considered to be upscale. Sincerely, A concerned resident of High Point who cares about great service in his own city
A little shocked at the price we paid for what we ate. We came here as a last option on an otherwise very busy night in the area due to furniture sales or something of that nature who knew. No wonder this restaurant had openings. They were out of several menu items. The cheese platter was mediocre at best. My fiance ordered a Caesar salad but received a House with absolutely no awareness by the server. I ordered the scallop entree which was bland at best and came with just 3 scallops! I would expect that quantity in an appetizer and was incredibly surprised with the price tag it accompanied. My fiance's "filet" was smothered in some sort of gravy so who knew if it was filet at all. Again, just disappointed at the price/quality ratio, or should I say, disparity. We love each other's company and can find enjoyment in any situation so we had a great time together but I caution you from dining here. For the money we spent we could have had an exponentially better meal and will not be returning. I'll end on a positive as I always choose to do, the server was very pleasant and friendly.
I come to High Point a lot for business, a group 8 wanted to catch up, eat and have a few drinks. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Cristina’s so I was happy to visit again. What a let down it was… the restaurant was half-full at best, after waiting for a while at the door the waitress approached but was extremely uninterested in serving us, her first words were “it’s going to be 30-45 minutes…” we’d be glad to sit at the bar and wait but she didn’t even make the slightest attempt to accommodate us. After a short cold and rather brash few sentences from her we ended up leaving to take our business somewhere else, and most likely will steer clear in the future. I’m a business owner myself, and I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this was such a strange and disappointing experience I think the owners should know - I know I would!
Last week I told a friend about Christina Greys. I told her that my husband and I had a wonderful meal there pre-Covid and that she should try it out. So my husband and I decided to take my own advice tonight. What a disappointment. I don’t know if the restaurant is under new management but all I can say is we were underwhelmed. The atmosphere was completely different as they had added another dining room and the lights were very bright. It lost the enchanting vibe. We then went to order and they were out of their signature meatloaf dish, which my husband had talked about for years. We ordered something else and waited 40 minutes for our roasted chicken and grilled salmon dish. We were the only ones in the restaurant. I finally asked our waitress who wasn’t very good, if there was bread. She stated “I can get you bread if you want”. Sigh She brought the bread out with our meal. The meals were over salted. The asparagus was tough and difficult to cut with the butter knife we were given. The risotto was very good, but the salmon and roasted chicken were bland. Not worth the trip to high point from Greensboro. Such a disappointment. Great loss to the area.
The restaurant is beautiful but the food was just a bit average for the price. The service was great however. It would not.be a place I would want to frequent except for maybe a salad and some wine.
I’m staying at this inn for a week; which is not inexpensive, neither is the restaurant. My first evening I went to Christina Grays and it was wonderful. Absolutely amazing service, friendly, attentive, etc. the second night I sat for about 20 minutes and no one would wait on me. Now, I’m staying at the inn so for a week is $1,000 and for some reason tonight they wouldn’t wait on me. I walked out and went to Sweet Old Bills just three blocks down. There was only one table occupied and three people at the bar. The previous night I left a very generous tip. So bottom line is spotty service. I understand things are not the same but this was unsettling. I stay in High Point a lot and was planning on staying here but am rethinking that as this was just so odd. This experience has reflected on the hotel and not just the restaurant. I’m not sure I’ll stay again. I am generous and at least would like to be waited on.
Excited to try this place. Appeared to be fine dining. Beautiful place. Not many there when we were. Limited drinks from the bar. Small menu…food was ok and we were pretty much left unattended. All in all….a big let down…
Nice relaxing atmosphere. The food very good I would definitely go back. The potato meatball soup was a little salty so deducted 1 star. Service by Travis was excellent.
