The atmosphere is one of a kind!! As soon as you enter the restaurant you are greeted with a warm, old world feel that is such a lost art. There is a touch of class with every single detail. The staff is nothing but the definition of professional, and on point with their service along with great knowledge of the menu. But the cuisine is the show stopper here!!! The prime steaks cooked to perfection and seafood dishes are hard to compare. What a gem in Jims steakhouse, and a great find downtown Peoria IL! Recommend to all!!
The steak house is a beautiful place, lots of historical memorabilia. A great place for a date night or hosting an event. It can get quite loud in there when packed and the acoustics don't help with isolation from the overwhelming noise. Luckily, if you're party wants some quiet while dining so you can actually converse, they do have a limited number of private areas which you should request in advance part of your reservation. The holiday decorations still up end of February were too tacky for our taste however. The place is beautiful by itself without the fake holiday flower decorations.
The food is average. Overall, there was a clear lack of attention to detail. From a place that looks this amazing and charges the prices they charge, I'd expect good service and amazing food. There was clearly no care put into the food. For example, my table ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms as recommended by our server. We got tiny mushrooms with an ice cream scoop of rice, crab, and cheese that resulted in an unappetizing appearance and bland food. I also ordered the steak medallions and they came with a red wine mushroom sauce. The sauce wasn't properly emulsified and all it tasted of was red wine, making me suspect they didn't simmer it for long enough. The au gratin I ordered had chopped potatoes instead of scalloped, decently tasty, but more proof that they may be working too quickly or simply don't care for quality in the kitchen. The salad was very good. Overall, it was a let down for both the price and the location.
50+ year old, classic supper club and steak house. Tons of history with hundreds of celebrity photos on the wall who have visited over the years. Steaks had great flavor, cooked perfectly, big portions, great value and atmosphere. Excellent wine selection and specials. Jim's Steak House in Peoria is a 100% must visit.Food: 5/5
Our first time here and it was by far AMAZING!! Our waitress I believe her name was Gala or Kayla not sure the music was kinda loud but everyone was super polite and respectful! The food was so AMAZING! Whoever was cooking tonight is incredible!! Thank you so much for this experience we will definitely be coming back!!!!
The service improved over an already stellar experience. They recently included a dipped strawberry for each guest at the end of the meal. How delightful! The one and only issue was the noise level was quite high but that may have been unusual as most of the tables were large groups this evening. We love Jim's. Highly recommend!Food: 5/5
I always love coming to Jim's!! I always say I feel like I am treated like a queen here!! Our waitress was fantastic and so attentive to our needs. As co-workers who have retired, it's nice catching up and relaxing dining together with nice surroundings and outstanding food. The salads are always amazing and so big you can hardly finish them. The only complaint I have is that they include peas on their salad, which I find odd. I asked for it not to include, but there it came. The waitress came up after 5 minutes had passed and apologized about the peas but they tucked it in the corner of the salad that I just ate around it. She did ask me if I wanted another one, but I had already started, and I don't want to make a fuss, but that was nice she offered. The filet and baked potato were cooked to perfection !! Once again, that's always why we return again and again !! Thanks, Jim's for making our gathering always so memorable !!
The service was AMAZING! Susan was so great and the staff was very attentive. As excellent as the service was, the food was even better! Highly recommend the Beef and Blue and the blue cheese dressing. The steak was the best thing I've ever tasted. It was tender, cooked perfectly, and seasoned to perfection. Jim's also has a nice atmosphere with dim, romantic lighting. We will definitely be back!!
There's a reason why this steakhouse has been in business since the '60s. Quality, decor, menu offerings and service. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, everything was great. Definitely the best meal I've had in Peoria. If you like bourbon, grab a pour of Buffalo Trace and during the meal, I suggest a glass of Decoy pinot noir. Perfect way to pair with an excellent filet and baked potato. Finish with the turtle cheesecake. Fantastic and highly recommend!
If you want good food and welcoming service and atmosphere, do not go here! My spouse and I had a double date here to celebrate our anniversary and were expecting a good time, especially with how expensive everything on the menu was. Our friend who is black American and my nonbinary spouse received glares from all the other clients. Our friend was served last and ignored when she tried to ask for service. The $24 lisagna portion I order was the equivalent of culinary trash. It was about 1/2 Ibs of dry ground beef between dry noodles, slight sprinkling of ricotta here and there, topped with a dollop of tomato past and served with a side of burnt bread. The cheesecake we ordered was very obviously frozen and cheap, the type you could buy from Walmart, and they charge about $14 a slice at this place. We asked about when they serve bread for the table and we were told when the food arrives but they can bring it out now. We said no thank you and they brought it out anyway with an annoyed expression, and our designated server, who we could not find when we asked, was angry we didn't ask her instead. Then every 10 minutes we were interrupted by annoyed servers. I would have sent the food back but if I had to explain why, I would have made a scene as this food was just insulting from the perspective of someone who loves to cook. And the icing on the cake was when my male presenting spouse in heels went to use the men's restroom and was told they didn't belong there by another client. The only thing good was some decorations. The carpet, however, is in serious need of either a replacement or deep cleaning. We will never eat here again! A total waste of time, money, and ingredients!
