Some great selection of records and cassettes as well as antique cameras and even a Edison gramophone! Lovely owners and we even picked up a golden record off the wall, would come again any day.
John is a really great guy who knows his stuff. They develop film, and they sell vintage cameras and lenses. He has a really great selection! He also seeks records, and there was also a large selection of records available.
Fun little spot! I like going through vinyls - it's almost like a treasure hunt. You never know what kinds of cool things you'll find and take home. They have an eclectic mix so there's truly something for every music buff! I know nothing about photography, but found all the equipment and goodies fascinating. There's a lot that I'm sure any photographer, amateur or pro, would love to check out. It's a great spot and I'm thankful that Blacksburg has such a neat place!
Only honest to goodness real traditional camera shop for photography professionals and dark room in Blacksburg. I prefer Fuji Color 35 mm film. Actual museum and retail shop for all things optical. Remember that Red Corvette?
I've been stopping in to see John for over a decade, back when his shop was across the road in what is now a pizza stand; when he was only selling camera gear. In all that time, he and the store have had an eclectic collection of camera gear. I've walked in and found a full set of studio strobes, or a bucket of disposable film cameras, or a crate of 35mm film bodies in various states right from his latest find. If he hasn't sorted through his latest purchase, he will offer really great prices if you pick through it yourself. My set of Braun potato-masher studio strobes and portable charge pack couldn't be in my amateur hands at normal retail price. He has recently several years ago, now moved to the current location and expanded to record sales as well. The selection of vintage and new records is excellent. If you don't have a turntable, he usually has some quality ones on hand. And, if you are lucky and get there just as it has come into the shop, a whole hi-fi set for a bargain price.
John's got a great shop, great wealth of knowledge, great stock, great prices, and great service. He's been critical to my little venture in film photography. Having an absolute blast on a budget because of his help.
Came in just planning on looking around. Ended up leaving with turntable, amp and speakers. Jon was nice enough to spend plenty of time with me in order to make sure everything worked and sounded great. Jon's son actually drove me back to my dorm with all my equipment. Nice atmosphere with staff that loves their customers and products. Will be buying records here again.
Cute store, camera’s and supplies for shooting on film.
Great variety of albums, but the place is old, dingy and a shambles. When I went in the guy working was on his cell phone talking to a friend. My entire transaction was while he talked on the phone. When I asked for a bag, he finally told his friend to hang on. Clearly, this store is not there to make a profit. Very unprofessional.
