My experiences here have been with mostly great doctors/nurses. Only two doctors and a mammography tech have been terrible very!! to me during my history with Kaiser. Today's visit for a surgical procedure went very well, and everyone was so kind and professional.
Have always had excellent care from Kaiser. Recently had bypass surgery and Covid after having 4 vaccine injections. Was given anti- virals promptly and have recovered completely. Very grateful for the great care!
It is not possible to get an appointment with a primary care provider. At all. Need care? Drive to Martinez.
I love Kaiser. I recently had to go into the UC medical system and it was mid evil in appearance compared to the facility we enjoy in San Rafael. I love that Kaiser prescribes vitamins for some of my health issues rather than drugs and I also love how quickly they respond to any of my issues. Recently, I received cancer surgery. I was diagnosed on June 4 and received surgery on June 18. There were a few mixups, and the pain was difficult to manage, but the incision is 3 inches and I’m here to tell the story! Liver cancer success rate isn’t the greatest so I feel double blessed.
I recently had a total knee replacement performed by Dr. Kenney and I couldn't be happier. The entire staff was wonderful from the moment I checked in in the morning until I left. Dr. Kenney is truly a gifted surgeon. The pain I experienced was about 1/5 of what I expected and I am healing way ahead of the anticipated recovery time. Although the looks of the scar are not really important, mine looks like a plastic surgeon did it. The PT staff has also been outstanding. I return to work today without the slightest fear that I will not be able to do my job comfortably. They ended 50 years of knee pain for me.
the wait is too long not even in medical they take as long as here the service is terrible waiting 3 hours just for them to take blood and another 3 for them to call you
i had to go to ER at midnight due to an infection in a finger that was swelling so quickly that the skin was peeling off. I had a fantastic level of service from everyone. BRIAN SHUHEI NISHINAGA MD was excellent, and had an intern and a physicians assistant helping him with his diagnosis and procedures. Within an hour I had a procedure, tetnus shots, an xray of my finger for possible fractures, and antibiotics. I felt like i was in a 4 star hotel, with so many people assisting with my problem. It helped that it was midnight, and there was only one other patient in ER. I have been a Kaiser patient for five years, and I have found the level of service, empathy, extraordinary from telephone staff to doctors. I came to Kaiser skeptical of its varied reputation, but I have to say that year over year I feel like the whole place works well for me...and it's level of responsiveness is way beyond what I expect from a huge organization. And its been so easy to access doctors and advise when I need it. So even though I think about other help plans each year, I can't make the case to move. As my health needs increase with age, we'll see if they can keep getting better!
Switched my dad and I to Kaiser January 2021 and are thrilled! A reviewer Kaiser Novato posted something about Kaiser being a bloated bureaucracy and, oh how I disagree! I'd been dealing with the nightmare of MarinHealth since they began taking over Marin's healthcare system a few years ago and THAT was a bureaucracy; just trying to get an appointment with my PCP was so much of a nightmare that I avoided it at all costs perhaps that was their goal? On the other hand, it is SO easy communicating with my physicians and more importantly, my father's; booking appointments is usually a breeze not always, hence the 4 stars; the mail pharmacy is great; the majority of providers are excellent; we have yet to come across a member of the support staff who isn't super friendly and professional. I only wish I had switched to Kaiser sooner. This is what a healthcare system should be. P.S. I just read another reviewer's issues with the psych department and I have heard from friends and colleagues that they have had the same issues. Sadly, Kaiser is not alone in this. I gave up on getting any kind of psych services years ago because it was so incredibly difficult with ANY kind of insurance.
Wait time to speak with an advise nurse is ALWAYS 30min-1hr!! I used to get right on the phone with one every time. Cost cutting has run this hospital into the ground and now they provide substandard medical services. What a shame. EDIT: I waited 1 hour on hold to be told THEY CANNOT schedule an appointment. I think my ribs are broken and the best they can do is "Send a message to my doctors office to schedule the appointment" What an absolute joke. I guess I'm the punchline for spending $300+ a month paying for healthcare I CAN'T EVEN USE! It's a scam.
I came into the San Rafael ER just after midnight 09-14-21 with difficulty breathing. First I saw a receptionist who just could not wrap her head around the fact that am nearly completely DEAF. I told her 11 times that she had to write down the questions she was asking me. And yet she would shout thru her mask the questions. I kept telling her to write them down. She was VERY angry with me and her attitude was the worst I ever almost experienced. When I finally got to se the Dr. Garcia. He was the total opposite. He was kind, understanding, professional and very through. He did test after test to find the reason for my issues. One of the finest doctor's I've ever seen. The rest of the people I saw that morning were real pro's too. Outstanding! When a nurse came into administer a Nebulizer she was just like the receptionist. Rude, angry and dismissive. And in my opinion she, like the receptionist had no business helping people with special needs. She refused to write anything down. She just yelled at me and finally just turned around and walked away. She was HORRIBLE! This was the second time I went to the ER, the first time was just like the second horrible. Ray H,
