The ladies of Kalkaska Family Vision are great! I went in for a eye glass repair, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. With NO CHARGE! Not to mention, I was not a patient of theirs. Needless to say, I am now!
From the moment you speak to staff on the telephone until the conclusion of your services, this group of professionals are kind, helpful, detail-oriented, thorough, and efficient. It had been over a decade since my last eye exam and I was intimidated by the thought of owning up to the fact that I had perpetually and seriously laxed in my eye care despite my long standing history of very poor vision. I need not have worried as the staff was exemplary in their support and tending as we progressed through my appointment, after care, and follow-up. Dr. Leahy was beyond exceptional; she was genuinely personable and readily explained procedures, offered recommendations, and provided a clear and concise plan for my post-appointment steps. If you have the option to utilize this office for your eye care needs I would strongly recommend them as a number one choice!
Your first impressions are from the people who greet you. One of the ladies at the front desk should definitely work on her greeting skills. First I was speaking with one and she interrupts me with an attitude telling me the same thing I was about to say before she interrupted, almost as if what she interrupted me for would make me leave or cause a scene. I almost just walked out, however every single employee I had contact with was above superb! Such a shame they almost lost 5 customers because of one bad seed.
First I was told my Medicare should cover the cost of an eye exam being it had been 3yrs since my last exam, and that I have had seizures recently. Which I ended up paying full price of 99.00 dollars. Then I was told they have some good package prices. 400 hundred dollars I ended up paying for everything. Then when I went to pick them up. I had to wait in the parking lot while they go back inside to get my glasses, charge my credit card and bring them back outside to me in the parking lot in 90degree heat.I realize this covid19 has changed everything, but this is honestly a joke! I couldn't get them to let me in the building so they could adjust my new pair of glasses. I was told to come back if my glasses needs any adjustments. I've bought glasses online in the past and saved a lot of money . But I went on their word that my exam would be covered and they had great package prices. I was totally trying to keep my money local and help out. Not again! Their are many places in other towns that will give you a good price.. And buying online saves a person so much-needed money. I feel if this business wants your money, they need to do some major changes. I don't have any issues with wearing a mask and social distancing. I understand we have a pandemic happening. But I feel this company could do more to accommodate their customers.
We have a daughter that has been in glasses since she was very young. Over the years, we've never had any major issues in getting her vision needs taken care of, but we had never had a WOW moment in the process. Then we experienced the team at Kalkaska Family Vision Care! WOW! Not only was Dr. Clay's team professional, they were FAST and FRIENDLY. My daughter actually enjoyed going to the eye clinic, they put her in frames that she absolutely loves and they followed up a week after to check in and make sure everything was going well. We are grateful for the team at KFVC and we certainly are customers for life!

I have always struggled to see correctly out of my right eye. Doctor Clay took the time to fully diagnose what was going on and get me into not only my correct prescription but a lens that fits the need that my eye requires. It’s insane that I have NEVER seen as clear as I do with the lens and prescription he put me in today. I am so so happy that I saw him today! I am a patient for life!
Dr. Skrztpczak is a knowledgable professional. He is able to help you understand the complicated world of retinas and lenses while helping to guide you to your best outcome. Not the outcome that lines his pockets - but what works best for YOU. That individual treatment won't be found in some cookie cutter franchise. The staff at KFVC is courteous and helpful and the space is both tastefully decorated and very clean. You can put your family's vision care needs in Dr. Clay's hands, he will take good care of you and yours, as he does for me & mine.
First of all got the wrong prescription went back a second time for another exam, got glasses back and the same thing! I told the doc that I could not see small print with the bifocal in my progressive lenses, I was told I needed to use them like a tool? So does that mean I'm too dumb to look down? My glasses were wrong, Dr. Skyrzpack doesn't have a clue. I recently went to Walmart for glasses and low and behold I got the right prescription and it cost much less.
This was so much better than the options in Traverse City, I felt like family Clay really cares about the customer experience. Thank YOU Kalkaska Family Vision Care !!! Oh yeah and he's GREAT with KIDS!!!!
