Historic Kanapaha Presbyterian Church Cemetery is located on the site of the original Kanapaha Presbyterian Church organized in 1857 and built in 1859.
The Historic Kanapaha Presbyterian Church was founded in the late 1850s along the old military road which connected the forts in Micanopy to Ft. Clarke. The original 1859 Kanapaha Presbyterian Church (no longer standing) was built in what is today the center of the cemetery. The earliest dated burial (1867) belongs to John Chesnut Haile, the son of cotton planters Thomas and Serena Haile of Kanapaha Plantation. Other prominent citizens, Civil War veterans, and many others, including a person once enslaved by the Hailes, are buried in this hallowed ground. The beautifully preserved and maintained cemetery is located at 4101 SW 63rd Blvd. SW 63rd Blvd. is approximately one mile east of the present day 1886 Kanapaha Presbyterian Church (6221 SW 75th Terrace), north off Archer Rd. The cemetery is at the end of 63rd Blvd. on the right.
