My puppy was hospitalized last weekend due to hypoglycemia and a couple other issues. It was Saturday and our regular vet was booked up and couldn't see us. Ever was having seizures and was basically unresponsive when we finished the hour and a half drive. The staff was quick to get her seen and treated promptly. They could tell it was a life threatening emergency and got her back immediately while I signed in and filled out paperwork. They were very kind and compassionate in explaining everything to me. They were great about letting me call and check on her and were very caring and patient. Dr. Tackett was our doctor and she kept me updated on Ever's status and treatment plan. She got to come home the next day and has been doing amazing since. THANK YOU Kanawha Valley Veterinary Emergency for saving my little girl. Pictures are after we picked her up and she was completely back to normal.
The staff here have really blessed my family through a very tough and sad time they took a paw impression of our babygirls paw prior to crossing over and wrapped her neatly in a pink wrap of love . We were not able to be with her for her crossing over, and the vet on call that night promised to give her snuggles n hugs from us, and when we picked her up and seen the respect and love that she was Givin it made such an impression on us that we want to share . I have two puppies that got the parvo virus and were under 6 lbs. very sick little girls and the staff here were wonderful all the way till the end !
We ended up having to say goodbye to our Cheddar and the staff here made it as easy as possible. With having to do the hardest thing imaginable, they helped us through the entire process and answered any questions we had while we were there.
I just want to say what an amazing job all the workers did at the emergency animal hospital last night/this morning. I recently moved to south Charleston and my cat Milo did not handle it well. Saturday he stopped eating, drinking, and was hiding from us which is completely opposite of his personality. Then last night at 10:30pm he began vomiting and going to the bathroom outside of his litter box so I rushed him to the emergency clinic. They understood my concern but due to lack of emergency vets in the area it was going to be an 8-10 hour wait. Obviously this was not ideal but I had no choice so I stayed there all night. I cannot even begin to explain how kind, consoling, and compassionate all the workers and other patients were to me! I was very upset and scared but they all did their best to make me feel at ease. I’m not sure if many people know this but the receptionist told me there are only 2 emergency animal clinics left in the state of WV that stay open late/24 hours on the weekends. So please be patient when you take your pets to this or any vet because they are doing the best they can with what they are given. At around 5am the vet was able to see Milo and run all the blood work and X-rays and determined it was a urinary infection due to stress. She gave him fluids and medicine to help with pain and appetite and as soon as we got home around 6am he immediately wanted to eat and drink water. Today he has been his normal self again and I can’t say how thankful I am for the vet, workers, and all the people in the waiting room who helped me last night.
They helped save his life and I will be forever grateful. My boy was treated immediately for a urinary blockage by the vet and staff. The only negativity I experienced was dirty looks from people in the waiting area who may want to reconsider what they think an emergency is. I’m glad I made them wait longer.
My Elsa is a 3 pound Yorkie and 9 years old. I had never had her fixed and she developed a pyometra. She had a very high risk surgery and they saved my baby at an affordable rate. Forever thankful. They were so sweet to us the entire experience.
This emergency vet was such a blessing when my dog was in desperate need this past Saturday night. She had been feeling so bad that she didn't want to get out of her bed to even drink water, and had been in a steady decline for a couple days. We had lost our local emergency vet, so I was lucky to have found one that was less than an hour and a half away. When we first got there just before midnight they were very crowded, so we were told that it would be around 5 to 6 hours before we could be seen by the vet. Within the next half hour, she had declined so bad that her tongue and gums were really pale. She was panting and her eyes were rolling into her head. They took her right back for the initial exam and an ultrasound. Her spleen had a tumor that ruptured and caused her to loose a lot of blood. The decision was made to begin euthanasia. The vet and staff were so kind and empathetic, being very gentle with her until the end. I will recommend that anyone in need take their pet to them for emergency treatment.
Service can be slow due to the overwhelming number of cases they handle daily. But I would absolutely trust them with any pet I have. Saved my dogs life. Even after a stay of a few overnights, bill was reasonable for a surgery lasting several hours and extended stay.
Everyone was so kind, especially given the fact they are so busy. The waiting room and exam rooms were clean. Dr Dean took her time to make sure I understood the situation and answered all my questions. The techs were extremely kind. The CSR was kind and explained the process for charges and payments .
They were so kind to my 13 year old lab when I took him in when he had a bad fall and told me all of my opt for him! He's doing so much better due to their care and commitment to helping out pets!
