DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!!! My sister and I went here as children all the way up until we were about 18 years old. Every time we went for cleanings Dr. Kaplan advised us that we had 2-3 cavities that needed to be filled...EVERY TIME! The fillings were done with silver metal material that caused both my sister and I to need root canals in almost all the teeth that Dr. Kaplan filled. My sister and I now go to two different dentist now and both told us that the reason for the $10,000++ worth of work needing to be done root canals, removing the silver fillings, caps and even extractions is due to the fact that Dr. Kaplan filled all of our teeth with these metal fillings before there were even cavities developed. I am now seeing a dentist on the Upper East Side of Manhattan who was appalled when he x-rayed my mouth! With dental insurance I walked out of his office today with $2,000 bill for removing all of Dr. Kaplan's fillings and that's just on the right!! The left side of my mouth was Dr. Kaplan's favorite and two teeth are not salvageable and need to be extracted due to decay under the fillings!!!! WE CALL HIM THE BUTCHER and for good reason! My mother was crying today due to being so upset she made the mistake of sending us to him when we were children!
Dr. Kaplan has been my dentist for years. My former wife is a dentist and he was her dentist as well, so he is a dentist's dentist. Additionally, while in his waiting room today, I found myself seated next to his former partner, Dr Joel Miller, who's two grandchildren were being helped by Dr. Kaplan. It makes sense that he would only take his grandchildren to a dentist he knows to be a competent compassionate doctor. Dr Kaplan took an x-ray because during his exam he noticed a cracked porcelain crown. He showed me the radiograph and explained the results, an infected root as a result of exposure. He was, as always, thorough, capable, interested. After reading the previous reviewer's angry charge, I found myself puzzled. Her accusation sounds like a sad misinterpretation of another dentist's explanation. Either that or she found a greedy charlatan with a fool for a patient who provided a fraudulent reason for mining her mouth for treasure. I will continue to be honored to be a patient of Dr Stephen Kaplan and encourage others in the community to do so.
I have been going to dr Kaplan for at least 15 years he is a compassionate dentist and worked with my anxiety over removing 2 wisdom teeth after bad experiences elsewhere he made the procedure pain free and calming I would highly recommend any of his services
