"Counter service casual restaurant. Stand in line, order, and they bring the food out to you. Made from scratch pastries, gourmet espresso drinks, full service breakfast and lunch menu....not to mention a case full of ready to go salads, sandwiches and cakes. And yes...mimosas, beer and wine can be ordered as well. There is a dining room that seats about 50, as well as a very spacious patio...you can even bring your dog ;"

First, the food was AWESOME! I loved the puffed pastry tomato dish. The potato wedges were delicious as well. The crowd management was poor and finding seating for myself felt like the hunger games. I also really dislike restaurants where I have to get my own water/napkins/silverware. Especially when I’m nervous about standing up and someone snagging my table.
Absolutely incredibly lunch spot! The food is unbelievably good. I got a salmon pomegranate quinoa salad and loved it so much I forgot to take a photo. This cookie was also exceptionally good. I am already looking forward to the next time we can eat at Karen’s!
Super dry, the cake didn’t stay together at all, it was very bland. We didn’t get the type of cake that was ordered, and it came without any decoration.. for a two year olds birthday party. So disappointed for how expensive it was.
Overall, I am very disappointed in the quality of cake I received from Karen's Bakery especially considering the $50 price tag. For a strawberry cream, there was almost no evidence of strawberries, it was overcooked, dry, and not even to the standard of what you might find at a local grocery store. Oh well, at least the kids will eat it.
First, note that the menu on their website may not be accurate for when you go multiple menu items on the online menu weren't on the in-store menu when I visited. I had the Bahn Mi sandwich, which was good but just at my spiciness limit with the jalapenos picked off I can do a little spice, but not a lot. Cute place with nice outdoor seating. Does seem to get crowded; if it's anything like when I visited Friday lunch time, be ready to stand in a line snaking out the door.
Great place to grab breakfast or brunch and then go for a walk through Historic Folsom. Loved the pastries as wellRecommended dishes
Nice place, equally valuable as a brunch spot or for baked goods to go. The menu offers lots of choices and everyone should be able to find something they like. The flourless chocolate cake is divine.
Karen’s bakery has been a community staple in Folsom since I can remember and I have been frequenting Karen’s for the last 2 decades! UNFORTUNATELY, since new ownership the menu has been very inconsistent. They do not have all menu items available each day as advertised and the chefs choose whether or not they would like to make an item that day and the time in which they would like to close the kitchen for the day. I have attempted to order items more than a dozen times in the last 6 weeks and have been told “they can’t make that item today” OR have called at 1pm to place an order and have been told “we can’t make that item because the kitchen closes at 2pm.” Super disappointing that they do not respect the new owner/management enough to uphold the integrity of Karen’s reputation.
This bakery is amazing. Beautiful pastry and cakes. Also great lunch sandwiches. A must if you visit Folsom.
Awesome place to eat in downtown Folsom. Great food amazing service a real nice atmosphere to enjoy a cup of coffee get some sweets or have a great breakfast or lunch Love this place
