chef killin em the kebabs here!!! this place is so good. true soviet service vibes here, but i think it’s kinda charming. u come for the flame grilled kebabs out back, which are delicious. the first time i stopped by here some ten years ago a group of jovial tipsy old men gathered around one of the tables offered me shots of vodka. super unassuming spot off a freeway entrance, all the better.
As always food was amazing ! This is one of those little places that you may be driving by everyday and not even notice, but once you stop by and try their food..man it is good! I have discovered it 16 years ago and up to this day everytime I am in LA I live in Sacramento I will plan my day to make sure I stop here for lunch and dinner. It is mostly Armenian food with amazing choices of different kabob but also some mixture of Slavic food. Same people working here since 1st day I ate here. I just love this place
Your Armenian grandma's home cooking! Well, I don't know for sure but it certainly tastes authentic and made with love. The decor and tables were fancy like a family Sunday night dinner but homey too. The serving sizes were large and the dishes were hot right from the grill. We loved the imported lemonade and the bread for the table. The whole experience was a little outside our comfort zone never had Armenian food but well worth it. You will not be disappointed and very pleasantly surprised. Be sure to give them a try.
This was a pretty weird dining experience. The one old man in the place seemed completely disinterested that I was there. I had to go through the kitchen and find him for a menu. He didn't speak English so I couldn't ask any questions about the choices so I Googled what was there. I was not offered any kind of beverage. After a good while, he came back with a plate of khinkalis which were pretty damn good. I had to go looking for him again to pay my bill. I think the food could make up for the spartan "decor" and complete lack of service, but just a little bit more would go a long way. Now that I know what to expect, I'll be a little more prepared next time.
The food is so good! Highly recommend !!
A restaurant that I can recommend if you are open to different tastes.Food: 5/5
Service was very basic but you're there for the food. Beef lulla was very well spiced and cooked, the lamb kabob was a bit tough but very tasty. The pickles, pickled cabbage, and veggies were all on point. Good value and a great stop!
If you don’t have Armenian grandparents, you will when you visit! They are so pleasant and chill. The food is amazing and I tried every flavor of their Armenian sodas.
Really enjoyed the food here. Eggplant app was bright and fresh and not too heavy I'm not a huge eggplant fan and still really enjoyed it. It also went well with the fairly unique bread - lavash-style but paper thin but still quite strong, it was the perfect 'dip and grab' bread. For mains we had the beef and lamb Lula kebab, which was really really well spiced and flavored. It came with some nice fry-like potatoes and a cucumber and tomato salad. Overall a really tasty dish and one of the best kebabs I've had in a while. The spiced beef dumplings hinkali were big and deliciously doughy and very tasty. Décor inside is surprisingly nice for a seeming home in the wall in a strip mall. Service was friendly but a little bit of a challenge as we didn't speak Armenian, but that was part of the fun. All in all it felt really authentic, the food was very tasty, and the whole meal was great value.
Nice place to buy cooked meats to go. Nice variety of meats cooked over a open flame. Prices have gone up though.
